Carry Codewords

My wife and I almost always know that the other is armed.

Other close friends and family know to refer to refer to some piece of sporting equipment that could not possibly refer to anything else, but this varies with context. If we're fishing, an inquiry about a golf club is talking about a gun, etc.

My brother has Sunshine and Richard , a Glock whose origin of name I don't know and a .357 S&W that hasn't yet shot a car but that's where his name comes from. I have Plan B.

"I'm code forty". Code 40 used to be local radio code for armed w/ firearm
I've used that one myself. Around where I live/work it's "Signal 5". My SO doesn't ask anymore either - she knows I typically NEVER leave my house unarmed.

My wife will feel it (the gun) during a hug and tell me "So....I guess you're NOT just happy to see me".

Since then, some play on those words is what she'll say when referring to it.

Haven't finished reading this thread yet (sorry, but the thought of buttered popcorn is overwhelming my need to finish this novel just now... will read more later; bookmarked).

For now, just this:

"I think it would be fairly polite of you guys to inform your significant other when you are carrying. That would eliminat this whole problem."

+2.

I dream of a female partner that, upon being advised of said CCW metal on the first date, responds with, "Show me yours, and I'll show you mine." ;)

My youngest son once asked me in the check out line of a crowded grocery store if I had my gun on (never leave home without it :evil: ). It sure raised several eyebrows :eek: .

i dont have my CCW but i shoot out at a range in the National Forest. Rather secluded, so when i go out with friends we make sure we dont empty everything at once if we have compadres we dont know at other tables.
the big question is always whether you have a loaded pistol on you.

"gotcher iron?"

"you know it, and ready to play"

If you are right handed--how about 'Left-side envy'? or vice-versa

I would have no idea what my wife was talking about since I carry in a very balanced mode--a Sig P229 on each side.

My wife knows by now that if we leave the house, I have a gun. If we're in the house, the gun is on me or within easy reach. I don't plan on visiting the courthouse, since I can renew by mail. Everywhere else is fair game. I do love Oregon.:D

(thread hijack)
My carry gun is named "Miss Anne Thrope."
Pax, that's hilarious!(thread unhijacked)

The first time we took the kids to the range, the youngest was only 5. When he saw the other people shooting, he started imitating them, making a gesture with his thumb and forefinger like a gun and yelling "PAM! PAM!"

If we're ever out or about to go out my wife will ask if I remembered my "pammer."

Some of my friends only carry some of the time. I'm like a broke record with them because Murphy is out to get me. Odds are that If I go unarmed I won't need a weapon. Odds are if I go armed I won't need a weapon. But I can guarantee you that if I start picking and choosing when to go armed and when to go unarmed that I will run into a situation where I will need a weapon and be unarmed. Just the way the trend in my life has been.

Don't worry about being 'made' by me, either. I already have. Even if you never print at all. How? I assume that everyone I come in contact with is armed. I'm wrong as to the people who are unarmed. But I'm 100% right about the people who are armed.

Ever since my wife and I found out that the Jayne character on the TV show "Firefly" named his favorite rifle "Vera", we've been going with the flow:

1911 = "Flo"
CZ75 = "Alice"

Apologies to anyone young enough not to be familiar with 1970's sitcoms. :)

im a believer if i carried once, ill carry every day..
i would have a hard time with myself, if something happened and it "could" of been prevented "IF" i would of brought it today.

its a given i have my pistol...
now she has been getting surprised by my extra mags on the weakside since the weather has been getting cooler :)
