The weather's getting ready to change here and I find myself in a situation as far as defense goes. I've been carrying a Ruger P95 in a shoulder holster with no problems, as I'm a larger individual and it doesn't take much to make a gun disappear under my arm.

The problem is that with warmer weather coming I'm not going to be able to continue to carry in this style as there WILL be days when extra cloth anywhere will be suspect. I'm trying to decide on a new gun that is easier to conceal (read: offers more options). I've got a HARD price cap of $700 and I'd like to stick closer to $550-$600.

I'm currently considering all calibers and action styles, so if you have a suggestion in the price range toss it out there and tell me why you think it would be best.

I know that I could just invest in a new carry method for the existing weapon, but this gives me an excuse to get another gun ;)

The 642 is always nice to try and the new 380s that are around, the Ruger and the old standby Keltec. I really like a S&W model 10 with a 3" barrel.

That new Para PDA looks interesting. DA trigger, 9mm, no hammer.

I've been using either my model 36 or my KelTec P11 with belt clip in the summer.

Oh how I wish people wouldn't get so freaked out over handguns. I'd open carry all the time. Oh well.

A 1911, IWB, with a light cover shirt

Is there a reliable 1911 that falls in my price range? I admittedly don't know much about the design, but I was under the impression that to get something reliable you'd be talking about quite a bit more than my spending cap.

Feel free to enlighten me. I grew up in a house full of rifles, but my handgun experience is somewhat limited.
