I live in Texas and will be vacationing in southern Colorado later in the summer to camp and scare the pants off of trout for a couple of weeks. I have a Texas CHL and we have reciprocity with Colorado. Not planning on imbibing but can I legally carry concealed in a restaurant that serves alcohol?

TIA

Yes, you can even carry in bars. Also "no gun" signs in private businesses here don't carry legal weight like your 30.06 signs.

The law here only states that you can't carry while "under the influence" (so it is conceivable that you could have a beer with dinner while packing and be in the clear ... however its up to the officer and not your blood alcohol level so its probably best not to chance it).

Only places you can't carry legally here are places off limits by federal law, government buildings, schools and any location where you would be searched before entry by security or has metal detectors.

If you enter a business (whether posted no carry or not) and they discover you're packing and ask you to leave, you will be charged with armed tresspass if you refuse to leave.

Overall you'll probably find Colorado is more gun friendly than Texas (at least outside of Denver).

Open carry is legal here as is concealed carry without a permit in your car.

It's also worth noting that open carry is prohibited is some less civilized localities, Denver, Aspen and Vail. Others may be afflicted as well.

Open carry in Colorado is only prohibited in Denver in Colorado. All other local ordinances are preempted by state law.

I love comin' down to Colorado, and do frequently, because they are so great about honoring my Wyoming CHP with very similar laws. I DO go to Rockies and Broncos games a lot, and the gun doesn't get to come in with me, but I'm pretty sure that's the law everywhere.

Here that has to do with their permanent metal detectors and security. Otherwise, it'd be perfectly legal.
