Is white pine the best to use?Cutting two blocks of wood to size is no problem. Nor should drilling them for the cartridges. You may want to make a jig to make sure your holes are drilled in the same place.

It looks like they would fit in the standard leather pistol cartridge box (carried by cavalry and officers).
