I have both an 1858 Rem. 36 cal revolver and a 2nd model Dragoon in .44 cal. I don't have enough funds to get two cartridge conversion cylinders right now. Which gun would be the best one in terms of accuracy to get conversion cylinders for; the Dragoon or the Remington? I figured that the Dragoon in 45 LC would be the best one for range and power. Your opinions on this issue are appreciated.

As far as which one would be more accurate, here is my take.

Dragoon .44 caliber C&B nominal bore diameter approximately .450.
.45 Colt has a projectile diameter of .452.

Your Remington .36 caliber C&B w/ a nominal bore diameter approximatly .372.
.38 Special has a projectile of .357.

Unless you purchased ammunition that is of heeled design for the .38 the Dragoon would yield better accuracy, but the ammunition for the .45 Colt would be more expensive.
