CC a small revolver - why?

The revolver battery of arms is more simplistic and fool proof. Reliability is second to none. Longer heavier trigger is necessary for stressful situations to prevent an accidental discharge (adrenalin and nerves will make things dicey!).

I have always liked revolvers and carrying a small carry revolver fits me perfectly. I like to vary the gun a bit, but overall, I still prefer a small revolver. Never had to shoot a single round, so 5 rounds is just fine with me. I like the fact that if you have a problem (misfire), all I have to do is pull the trigger again.

Up until this past year I believed my 5 shot J-Frame was enough protection for me here in the Land of Oz. Then terrorism in the form of a mass shooting took place only 30 miles from where I live this summer. This incident along with the recent nightclub mass shooting has convinced me that there are situations that a citizen with a high capacity semi-auto can lay down enough suppressive shots to give other potential victims a chance to escape.

My snubbie and I have traveled many a long mile together but for now it sits in a desk drawer serving as a third line of defensive firearms.

I'm very natural with a revolver. Autos not so much. I shoot both well, but when it comes down to adrenaline and instinct my hand/body naturally grip and move in such manner to present a revolver and be on target far quicker than I can a semiauto, especially if I'm manipulating a safety.

That is certainly true. However, that is a different potential threat than what may have been first considered when choosing a pocket gun.
For my situation , the most probable situation is one or two bad guys attempting to take advantage of a senior citizen in a parking lot or on my isolated farm. Hopefully, a six round .38 special with the right ammo will be sufficient and small enough and light enough to be always present. Perhaps if I lived in a larger community where gang activity or potential terrorist activity is more of a possibility, the choice would be consistent with what you suggested- a large frame high capacity autoloader with two supplemental magazines. Terror attacks can occur any place but at some point one has to come to a decision of what are the most likely threats. Otherwise we would be armed for combat all of the time and I sure hope it does not come to that.

Taurus 905 with custom grips, a birthday present from my wife. I told her I wanted a 9mm and she got this- funny girl! It's actually a terrific gun, and one of my 'go-to' guns for CC. Fit, finish and trigger-pull as surprisingly good; quite comparable to current S&Ws. I added custom olive-wood grips; very nice feel in the hand.

A short cylinder 9mm revolver has been on my wish list for quite some time.

I have both an LCP and a J-Frame.

I shoot them both okay. Maybe a little more accurate with the LCP, but not by much.

My J-Frame has been 100% reliable after many, many rounds.

My LCP has not been 100% reliable.

I usually carry the J-Frame for it's reliability.

I live in a low crime suburb with little or no gang activity. But stuff happens. A senior from local retirement community was kidnapped while using an ATM in front of a grocery store some months back.

I figure a 5 shot revolver is enough to deal with that kind of thing. If I start seeing ISIS squads around carrying long beheading knives, I might upgrade -- or move somewhere else.

This model 49 smith is a great pocket gun. No snags, but still you can use it single action in the unlikely event that becomes necessary.

My loaded Taurus 85UL weighs 1/2 of a pound less than its nearest competitor in my collection, a loaded Taurus PT111 G2.
1/2 of a pound may not sound like much if your waste is smaller than your butt but mine is not. I can strap the 85UL in its pancake holster and cinch it up tight and my britches won't fall off.

I’ve been carrying a model 36 or 37 since about 1968. I have a couple of easily concealed semi-autos but I just don’t feel comfortable with them.

Interesting that most posters favor revolvers. I wonder if that might be because you post this in the revolver section.

I did that intentionally, as I wanted to hear from folks who have chosen a revolver over a semiauto.

Because 158gr +P LSWCHPs will out penetrate any JHP I can put in my LCP I prefer my LCR when I have room in my pocket, but I've mostly taken to only carrying one of them when I have gym shorts or sweat pants on, if I have a belt and jeans and the pockets are big enough I carry my LC9s or PPS 40.

My wife won't shoot semiautos, calls them "guns that shoot back." I want her to be able to shoot any of my guns. These are my carry guns:

The Model 13-3 (top) is my "serious social work" revolver.
The Model 12-2 (middle) has become my EDC.
The Model 642-2 is my "always" revolver.
I always have at least 2 of them when I'm off duty.

I'm also a J frame carrier and also found recoil stout, considering I shoot a 3030 Contender and 357 Max Dan Wesson regularly. I did put a larger grip on and it helped, still prefer shooting my magnums, but do put rounds down range regularly enough to keep proficient.

I don't carry a gun in my pocket and don't wear baggyass britches with the crotch down to my knees. I am able to dress to conceal and like a gun on a belt holster. However, I do have a 637 lightweight in my go bag and holster for it if needed. When dressed up or the occasion requires really covert carry, I will carry that little 38. It is a bear with regular ammo, so I load special rounds for it with much lighter bullets, currently 110 gr XTP and 5.4gr of AA#2.
