Alot of my questions are based on what powders are available. On Hodgdon website H110, H4227 can be bought direct, but 296, Lil Gun, Titegroup, Longshot are out of stock....economics. Local shop has AA #9...
No they act completely different. I'm no expert but H110 is to be used in a tight range while IMR4227 almost always can be used well under the minimum load data. This can be seen when looking at data for 44Mag and 44Spec with IMR4227. I would recomend sticking to published load data though. Don't take my word as to what is safe or not. This has just been my observation of the two powders.
This is what I'd do with MY loads on MY firearms: unless I were at the max load, I'd just use the magnum primers with no charge weight change. I've tested this on a different caliber and noticed no discernable difference, but did not chrony them.
