CCI mini mags at walmart

I still have not seen a single round of 22 LR at any big box store I have visited in the past 2 years. NOT ONE! Granted I don't rush to Walmart or Academy but I just about always stop by and look when in their stores. I have seen bulk ammo at small stores for $40-$80 a brick.
I have purchased over 5k rounds in the past month from Midway. Mostly the Federal bulk that came in delivered for about $.062. High-ish but I needed to replace what we shot over the past two months. I ordered 3 boxes yesterday.

I just came from the Walmart Super Store in Oneonta, Alabama. They have ZERO ammunition, save for a couple of boxes of 12 ga. skeet loads.

for those who want to play the "22 at walmart game"..google..."brassbadger"..and/or "ammo-can.net"..it helps a little...showing the patterns that walmart gets 22s in....I am convinced that is how the 22 hoarders are making thier runs on limited supplies

Local one by me just had those mini mags at said price.

About a dozen boxes of Rem golden for 11.75 for a 225 pack.

Grabbed some. My savage can use em

this was my 2nd time in 4 months. Va. beach store had 325 round federal hv for $18 in july and the olean, ny walmart with the cci's last week. I travel a lot and walk into all the walmarts and ask. Bobs army navy in Clearfield, pa had Mini Mags for 9.99 2 months ago.

I found a few boxes myself yesterday. 50 round boxes of Thunderbolts for $2.46 but I still got my 3-box limit.

That's about the third or fourth time I've found .22LR in Walmart in the last few months. Generally I don't go early in the morning or anything - just check the ammo counter whenever I happen to be in the store.

I think I'm up to around 2500 rounds of .22LR set aside at this point, though I still shoot it (not as much as I used to) so that amount fluctuates up and down.

Walmart had them in the 300 round cartons by me. They still had 10 boxes left after I bought my quota.

It seems it was not that long ago that we could buy 22LR bricks of 500 for about $10, or 2 cents a round. Now I read on some forums that folks are thinking 10 cents or less a round is a great price. I've got a pretty good stash (for me) of 22's but would buy if I saw any at a reasonable price. I guess I now consider reasonable when it is about 6.5 cents a round, or $32.50 for a brick of 500.

Response to post 29 (MN)
I have bought from all three multiple times in the last two years and add to that list Gander Mountain. (MPLS area).

Academy Sport (Aiken SC) had Remington Golden Bullets 325 pack for $23 after tax, at Christmas. I found out about it on Saturday night, after closing time. Was told they still had 150 packs. Went in Monday morning, "all sold out".

We have a local "cartel" of retired men who gang rush Wal Mart, Academy, and any other place that sells .22LR. They know when the ammo comes in, and they're there at opening time, and buy it all. It's been happening ever since Sandy Hook, and shows no signs of letting up. They resell it on line, and double-or-triple their investment. Looks like I'll have to go out of town to find more .22LR.
Well- they WERE open on Sunday were they not?
Gotta move quickly on such things.... :D

As for opening time sales- I'm in SC also and all the WalMarts I've been in now put it out at random times to stop the "early morning" ammo rush.

Still- I've managed to pick up quite a bit lately to resupply my stash.
