Well, I tried some CCI Quiet-22 ammo in both a Ruger Mk-II and a Colt/Walther/Umarex Rail Gun. It wouldn't cycle either one even with a suppressor attached to the Colt. It was very quiet but it required hand-cycling. CCI's website mentions that this may be the case.
Ely subsonic worked in both as well as the usual bulk pack Federal stuff.
Does anyone have a semi-auto that will function with this ammo without being cycled manually?

It runs fine in an older Ruger MkII I have. It is well broken in though and the springs are likely weaker than typical.

The gain to it for me is that I don't need a suppressor on it for it to be hearing safe. From what I have read guys running it with cans have not been happy with it, better options out there for that.

I think the Quiet is a great round for what it was made to be, a quiet hunting/pest control round without a can.

You kind of covered it . As you said cci said it may be the case. We have one old colt woodsman they will run in, two newer ruger mkIII's I have not even tried . One custom 10/22 with a kidd lite recoil it will not cycle in but wifes old 10/22 custom has a 1973 stock recoil spring in it and will shoot them reliably.

Its really not worth using in a pistol as its still loud enough to hurt hearing in a pistols barrel.

Now shoot those cci quiets in a 20" to 25 " barreled bolt rifle and you can hear the fireing pin snap the brass and putt sound. Most modern fast air rifles make more noise.

In a pistol with a suppressor it is better if you have to cycle it manually because it will make less noise if you can't hear the bolt reciprocate when fired :).

The Smith & Wesson 9mm "Hush-Puppy" pistols used by the SEALs in Vietnam were set up to lock the slide back when fired for that very same purpose.

I once shot a Ruger MKII Supressed with subsonic ammo and you heard the bolt going back and forth and the slug going through the cardboard. It was pretty awesome :).

Just my .02,

cci quiet 22

Hardluk1 is right. It is very quiet in a bolt rifle. It's quieter than than my airgun. Great for bunnies in the garden. It's fairly loud out of my revolver and also not as quiet in my 10-22 which it also will not cycle. But I really like it in my CZ bolt.

Will have to pickup some of these rounds for my 10/22. I have watched a few video reviews that have used them in handguns and the difference isn't as drastic as with a long firearm. I probably have the loudest air rifle in existence so it is not hard to get a .22LR quieter.

I think CCI has done a disservice in the labeling of this product. The words "quiet" are in light, small text on the box. In these days of short supply customers see the words, and box color of CCI and grab it. I would love to see ammo sellers point out to customers this product may not work reliably in their semi auto gun. I have had a dozen or so customers at our range attempt to shoot this ammo in their semi's with no success.

I have a hard time believing CCI is even in business anymore. Lol.
