I just seen this quote while cruising gunbroker and thought it might be a nice conversation piece to discuss here.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=264137320

"This auction is for one of the lightest weapons on the market, the Smith and Wesson Model 317-2 22LR revolver. This gun is in very good fired condition. The two inch barrel and nine shot cylinder makes this a gun with bite. This weapon would be perfect for a backpack or to keep in the tackle box for varmints. Some people attach them to a lanyard and wear around their neck for concealed carry. Auction includes the factory box and paperwork. MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Amex, and money orders all are acceptable forms of payment. 3% premium on all forms of payment except money orders. We do not accept PayPal or ship to California. Packaging, shipping, and insurance is $35. The winner must ship through a Federal Firearms Dealer. Firearm is also shown in our range pro shop. Once a bid is placed the pistol will be removed from display. We recommend that all guns be checked by a qualified professional before firing."

I just wonder if anybody has actually pulled it off. I know the weapon is small and light, but a pendant it is not.

considering that my 317 only holds eight rounds I am inclined to take the OP with a grain of salt. I do believe I could carry my 3" kitgun 317 arround my neck as I am a large and lumpy person; however I just stick mine in my backpocket. I think they are great and underated as carry pieces

On a related note

There is a guy here in Maine making Kydex sheaths for the LCP and Kel-Tec for this very purpose. I could not see wearing any revolver around my neck but my LCP might not be too bad.

I can't even think of an effective draw technique from an around-the-neck carry position. Reach down into the shirt from above? Into the shirt through button gaps (which would require button-front shirts at all times!) Rip the shirt open? How long is the lanyard? Perhaps a "break-away" lanyard so that the gun isn't fired while still tied to you..
Don't think I'll be exploring that route, though my P32 probably weighs less than some things I've seen around people's necks..

I came into this post thinking it was about wearing your permit on a lanyard around your neck...

I once saw a Gold plated .50 desert eagle worn on a massive gold chain around a rapper's neck.

CCW? It would take an XXXL poncho to cover it up.

Some people attach them to a lanyard and wear around their neck for concealed carry.
The obvious questions: why conceal it this way; how do you achieve quick access; and once you finally get your hand on it in the scramble of an emergency--where exactly is it pointing?

Hey, some people like underwear holsters, too.

I know a guy who occasionally carries an LCP around his neck on a lanyard. Usually in the summer during shorts weather.

A surprising number of folks think a pistol lanyard is worn around the neck like an ID badge lanyard.

Even more surprising is the description "The two inch barrel and nine shot cylinder makes this a gun with bite...." Uh, by my count that gun in the photo has an EIGHT round cylinder.

The kydex holsters that hang around the neck work quite well especially for workout wear but in general I think it beats the undershirt or ankle holster in terms of access.
Don't think I would want to carry much more than a small 380 though.

the only effective way i could see a 'from the neck' carry would be if the gun was in a kydex holster on a chain....with the muzzle pointing up, so that you could reach up your shirt and grab the grip and pull down.......

.....and it sound like a fantastic way to carry...................if you want to shoot yourself in the face.
