The other day there was a man at my work who was printing badly. We are a posted bussiness so I wanted to tell him before a manager saw him. I politely told him and he got mad at me. Im fairly new to the CCW world so I would like to know if there is a proper way to inform someone about these situations?

Nice of you to let him know, i trust you were descrete?

What kind of business do you work at?

I think you did good tho

I think you did the right thing. Better you to politely tell him than a manager to in a less polite way or the manager to get upset.

I work at COSTCO and the sign is well hidden. I worked there for 2 weeks before I saw it and I was looking for it.

There was no reason for him to get mad - he was just being an unreasonable jerk. Even if you weren't a posted business, concealed means concealed in most states. If he wants to be a bozo he should get used to this.
Plus, if this is a business where customers could have seen him, there could have been problems. However we feel about our rights, not everybody agrees and this is a place of business. Driving away customers is not an option.
You could just as validly and correctly told the boss and gotten him fired, as you state. Instead you decided to help him out.
I would say being discrete, or at least not being obnoxiously loud, is the only thing.

I'm with "1911 Guy"...

If my concealed firearm is "printing", or visible in any manner I would be very appreciative if someone would discretely bring it to my attention. That is much preferable to having some anti-gunner type screaming, "gun, gun, guy's gotta gun:..

I think telling the guy about the visibility of his suppose to be "invisible" carry weapon was the right thing to do.

Just because the offending cc guy was a jerk does not mean not telling him would have been the right thing to do. I'm willing to bet that 9 times out of 10 the guy carrying would have been extremely thankful......

Just to play Devil's Advocate...but are you sure it was a gun? I've seen lumps and bulges that I first thought were firearms but later turned-out to be phones, beepers, eyeglasses, or colostomy bags. If it was in-fact a gun and easily identifiable, you did the right thing.

Is he one of those "The law says concealed and it's concealed!" types, carries a Desert Eagle in .50 AE IWB? :D

The law in Texas says it can't be noticable by the "casual observer" and obviously it was. He should realize you were doing him a favor. He could lose his license if a cop spied him, especially if the business has the sign. Some folks seem to think printing isn't covered by that, but if it's noticable through the clothing, I don't think actually seeing steel matters. This is why I don't carry my P90 in summer, among other reasons, like I don't have to hitch up my pants so often with the Kel Tec.

I'm not all that shy. The other day I was at a local C-Store waiting in line and when I finally got to the front of the line, I noticed that the clerk had a booger hanging out of his nose. I leaned forward and said "Hey man, ya got sumthin' hangin' out yer nose looks like Gumby swingin' on a vine".
He swiped at it and after closely examing the result of his efforts, wiped it on his pants. He owed me forty cents but I told him to keep the change and bagged my own beer.

Anyway, you did good.

Biker:)

Not every CCWer sees us all as brothers (or sisters) with a common cause. You did right by looking out for him. Let him suffer his own consequences.

I thank God I live in a state that doesn't have to worry about that "printing" crap.

I think you tried to do him a favor. He should have just said "Oh crap!" and thanked you.

"Excuse me sir, your cell phone is showing.";)

"That ain't my...Oh":uhoh:

As suggested on some internet forum. Please tell me. I would do the same for you.

CCW laws in TN

Guys, I don't mean to change the subject AT ALL... but I live in TN and I am having a hard time trying to find a clear cut list of laws and regulations on ccw in my state. By the time that I get my license and start carrying, I want to at least have a good idea of the situation. I know that some states have special regs such as printing in TX. Where can I go to find this info?

C-grunt -

What exactly does
We are a posted bussiness
mean in Arizona-esse?

Does that mean the business has posted a sign for no Open Carry but CC is ok?

You were right to let him know.
He need's to be aware that he was printing.
If customer's complain, the Management might not let the employe's carry at all.
Some people are jerk's!

Yeah....I was thinking the same think kansas45 just said, his getting called to the carpet by management over it would have only made it more of an issue for you and any other CCW. You did the right thing.

Agree with Sam too, there is no good way to tell someone other than to do so quietly and descretely. Any honest CCW should be appreciative. This guy does sound like a jerk, I almost wonder if perhaps he either doesn't have a permit or isn't allowed to own a firearm.
