I am going to be getting my ccw soon, and am wondering what a good choice would be for a lefty. I am looking at the H&K p7, but I don't know a lot about it. I have heard good things, but it has all been hearsay. I don't know anyone who ever owned one.

Any input would be helpful, and any other suggestions are also welcome. Caliber is not an issue, just reliability, and ease of use for a lefty.

The P7M8 is a great choice. I have one and use it frequently for CCW. You may also want to check out a Walther P-5 as it ejects spent shells to the left. I like the P7M8 a little more for CCW due to its slimness.

I've found DAO or DA/SA to be good choices for me (also a lefty), since I don't have to fool with a manual safety. But that's probably because I started with a Sig P228. Take a good look at Kahr's offerings -- they're very slim and compact, and come chambered in 9mm or .40 S&W. I had an MK9 that I adored -- all stainless, soft recoil, and very reliable. A tad on the heavy side, though.

I carry either a SIG 229 or 239 most of the time, as with any firearm, practice makes perfect, carry whatever feels the best in your hand. The P7 is a great gun. .......Whit

1911 with ambi, Browning HP, Kahr, Glock. Have all, all are very lefty friendly. About the only pistols I can't deal with so far are Sigs and HKs, would need the safties and controls swapped to use them.

I'm a hardcore lefty.

I carry a Kahr. Like a Glock but slimmer. Exquisitly ambidextrous.

I also carry a SIG on occasion (P220 or P228), and find that my left trigger finger can release the decocker with ease.

Also learn to press the mag release with the trigger finger....very easy and fast.
