I ride to school through a fairly questionable area of a certain downtown now holding the super bowl and it always ran through my mind if anyone has ever carried while bicycling. I mean it I guess you could do it if you always looser clothing. I suppose you would need a fairly great holster or find someother means of conceiling it. just looking for some stories if anyone has any. Now that I think about i bet alot of people around there do have guns on them but they are probably ridin "low rider" type bikes. Any weird CCW stories welcome

maybe something like a fanny pack?

The Camelbak Goblin.

I bought one of these last summer. It has a dedicated velcro rip open holster area behind the water area.

Hard to see in the photo but you pull down on that grey handle and the entire fanny pack drops down, revealing a holster tight against the belt. I love it.

Plus, you have water.....

I've carried while biking. Definitely a must in some places, especially if you like riding downtown or in rural areas.

If you're wearing clothes designed for cycling, you obviously have no place to conceal underneath them. I usually wear normal clothes, so practically any method of carry works - I prefer either a J-frame in a jacket pocket or a small IWB holster.

I've never seen that Camelbak. Looks sweet. :)

That thing is awesome. The Camelback site doesn't "fit" on my screen (?!), but I found out the model name is the Goblin. Gotta get one...

I take it my Marlin in scabbard mounted to the bike frame is not an option. :D

Seriously, I'm considering getting a mountain bike (shed some extra pounds). That's a nice pack ... ' might look into it.

Just strap an AR to you back and leave no doubts.

Seriously I was wondering that when I ride my motorcycle once I get my CCP. Don't see it being as difficult as on a bike though.

I'm glad you brought this up.

I recently had to switch to biking for my workout (stress fractures in my shins) and carry when doing so. I wear a nylon and kydex sholder holster with a Makarov and two spare mags in it. It's under my polar fleece, but the muzzle is pointed up, making the grip very easy to get to. The whole rig is lightweight, and isn't in my way on the bike.
When I run, I use a very small fanny pack from London Bridge Outfitters (one of the only nylon makers whose product is totally US-made) with the same Makarov.
Most of all, it's about carrying a light, reliable handgun whose finish is durable, or you don't care about. Sweat kills guns.

Since I usually ride wearing a jersey and shorts or tights, I have nowhere on my body to conceal when bicycling. So, one of my SP-101's rides along in the handlebar bag, and in a fanny pack when I am off the bike.

I always carry when riding a bike. I use an Ultima Torsopac "Apogee". Its green and looks like a typical granola eating hiker's pack. Very sheeple friendly.

Can't seem to locate this company on the internet...Where'd you get it?

Does anybody know of a chest mounted holster that cyclists can use? I’ve seen one before, a long time ago, and would like to look at that option for carry on my bike. It would be easier access than the fanny pack.

mountain bike

mounted a medic bag on handle bars, and carried revolver in there but would not be good for quick access.

I use the ActionPac™ Concealment Holster while bicycling. Take a look here: http://www.action-direct.com/257.htm. It is stable on my chest, does not move around, and holds my 2.25" SP 101 securely. One of the reasons I prefer this over a fanny pack is the ease of access.

After having a semi try and turn me into roadkill I took to riding around western Kansas with a LAAW strapped on my back before, (it was inert though).

Those semis would give me a lot of room then.

That's actually very cool looking. Doesn't it get soaking wet from sweat though? Does it have any ventilation?

I'm a hardcore cyclist about 8 months out of the year. I've never carried on the bike, but have a friend who occassionally carries his snubby. I just bought a new holster that I'm going to give a try

I will be sure to post my opinion of it. I'm hoping to purchase a Taurus 650SS soon, too, which would be perfect, IMHO for bike carry.

as a San Francisco bicycle mesenger

I carried a gun and pepperspray and a knife all the time. (in a proper fashionable messenger bag), easy acces while riding-no need to stop & dismount to get your gun....what you do is slide it around to the front to access your pistol-or your underfolder AK which will fit too.

Plus, if you're separated from the bike in an accident or attack, you're separate from your gun....

didn't bother to say i was riding in the piney woods of east texas, and my chances of being attacked were close to slim & none, and the way i ride (slow) accidents are also few.
