CCW Permit in NC

Exactly 14 days for me in Wake County (Raleigh), about 4 years ago. Fortunately Sheriff Harrison gets easily re-elected every time. I hope that continues.

The Sheriff's office called this afternoon saying mine was ready to pick up. 40 days in Lincoln County.

Henderson county 6 weeks and I had to do the running, letter from local hospital psyco.

Meck county, 98 days and waiting. This after waiting over 6 weeks for an open appointment time to go fill out paperwork and get fingerprinted.

But I'm not bitter... (insert sarcasm here)

Called sheriff's office, they said it was approved and they were waiting to receive it from Raleigh, and they would send me a postcard when it was in.

Great, after waiting on the government, I get to wait on USPS.

90 days, 98, was that 90 day thing a law or a "suggestion"?

Just got mine today in ORANGE county - 48 days since applying . I'm pleasantly surprised! My wife wasn't able to apply the same day I filled out my application and had to wait a week. Hers is also ready today, making it closer to 40 days. They must do them in batches.

My Mecklenburg CCW took 60 days. Most people I've talked to said that was unusually quick... I think if you're from Mecklenburg and have a squeaky clean record they'll still take 60, otherwise it's the 85+ as stated earlier. The 90 days thing is how long it takes the county to do their paperwork and either approve or deny. After that I reckon it's on the state.

I got my postcard notifying me that my purchase permit was ready about 3 months after actually picking up my permit from the sheriff's office . I'd definitely keep checking with them and not wait for the postcard.

Oh the wait

I'm in Davidson, submitted my paperwork and was fingerprinted 6/30. Still waiting. I called 2 weeks ago and they said the paperwork was done, just waiting for the detective to review.

Patience is a virtue, I'm working on that, really:banghead:

If you're a veteran and you intend to apply in Mecklenburg County, make sure you give them a photocopy of your DD form 214 when you go to fill out your paperwork. It's a requirement to get the permit, and they most likely will NOT say anything to you about needing to bring it.

This most likely applies to other counties also.
