Has anyone ever waded thru the tangled web of CCW reciprocity to find out what the minimum permits required to have CCW legally in as many states as possible would be? I have Ohio resident CCW and was going to apply for New Hampshire non-resident because that gets me Pennsylvania, which I need. But then I thought, why not get the Pennsylvania permit anyway because it gets me Texas and a bunch of other Western states and it looks like nonresident permits are fairly easy and cheap there... I guess the problem is that I heard that Florida would no longer be issueing nonresident permits, if you are from a state that has a CCW permit. Is this true, because Florida is like the master key to most states. Anyone able to educate me?

BTW: My big need is a Minnesota permit, but it looks like they have no reciprocity.

I also needed Minnesota, and I am from Illinois so no help there. Utah is the one you need, it covers as many states as Florida but not the same ones. I allready had Florida, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire that covered every where I planned to be except Minnesota. Adding Utah gave me Minnesota and Washington state, and is really a bargin at $59. for 5 years. The problem is you have to take a self defense class from a Utah certified instructor.
Go to www.packing.org and check out Utah, you don't have to go there, you can probably find an instructor near you. Good luck, Jim.

Have thought about getting the non-res from Florida to pick up a few states but never got around to it. My Georgia License gets me into all of the states near me that I would drive to. Too much hassle to pack and fly. Most of my flights are for business and even if I flew to a state where I could carry I wouldn't want anyone I worked with to see me at the counter declaring a firearm since there is a big NO HANDGUNS sign on company premesis on the door (which I tend to overlook from time to time :neener: ) If they install metal detectors, well maybe I'll rethink it.

I have PA and FL non-res. The peak gain, as Diamondback6 put it, was getting the Florida one, which gives me 30 states.

Picking up a Utah CCW would get me 2 more states (and could replace Florida, I suppose). I've been thinking of getting Maine, just because. I'd also like a Virginia non-res, in the hopes that it'll eventually be accepted in West Virginia (which is close to me, and difficult to drive around).

The reciprocity game is fun! :scrutiny:

PA is cheap ($25) and easy if you have your OH CHL in hand. You can pick any county in PA to apply to. Some (one, at least) are "shall issue" and turn them around in a couple of days. I just renewed mine. PM me if you want more details.
