CCW size, what do you carry?

I carry my BUG when off duty: Colt Pocket Nine. Six in the mag and one in the chamber. I have an IWB and it works great, even on a hot summer day in SC.

Maybe it was just my magnetic personality...

"City" guns:

> 70 Degrees F, 30 year old Llama 380 or 2" Detective Special. IWB, ankle, or belly pack for either, decided by whim.

< 70 Degrees F, full size 1911. IWB.

Afield, 6" Ruger or Smith 19 .357 in full-flap Bianchi.

A couple of months ago, "just 'cause I can," I carried all three "city" guns for most of the day.

With all that iron on me, I kept swinging to the North.

Pain in the neck. I quit doing that. One'll do from now on.

I've always carried medium - full sized guns (Para carry 12, S&W 457S, GLOCK 30, and currently a S&W 910S) I used to carry a S&W 642 as a BUG, in a pocket or on my ankle.

I carry one of the following on my hip at all times:

Glock 36 (compact .45)
Sig P245 (compact .45)
Sig P229 (medium-frame .40). I carry this one the least because of its weight and smaller caliber

AND a S&W 442 (J-frame, .38 cal) on my ankle.

90% of the time, I'm carrying 2 guns.

I carry either S&W 442 or 642 and Glock 26. I've carried my Glock 19 but prefer the 26 for CCW

Kimber Classic Royal fullsize as a primary, HK P2000 which is pretty much a compact for when it rains or I just want something smaller.

Sadly, overall the 1911 is easier to conceal, how sad.

Variations

Wow. It is certainly nice to see that some of uf us carry the same as others while others remain to carry what others may not carry. Please keep them coming. Your tips and hints may save someone's life someday!

At least 2 from the following list. Taurus 45 LC Titanium snubbie, SP101 .357, Kel-Tec P3-AT, Kel-Tec, Taurus Millennium Pro .40S&W, Ruger P97, Ruger P95, H&K USP Compact .45, and Sig P220.

Well when I am finally able to CCW I will be carrying an HK P2000sk. If I feel I want something bigger I will go with the HK P2000. Both are in .40 S&W and have the LEM trigger. And I will always have an extra 12 round magazine on my person.

I cant wait to leave this horrible state.

It varies. For 100% reliability and a perfect fit, usually AMT's 380 Backup DAO , [not the SA model] within a Trickster back-pocket holster.

I had the PM9 for a while, but switched to this DAO with second-strike capability.

The PPK/S in a used, carefully-made OWB, when contracting, hiking, shopping at big-box home centers, is another great choice. A craftsman really loved the original recipient of this PP leather.

I did luck into a sweet Wilson Combat "Rapid Response" holster, OWB, that hugs the hip perfectly. Other than testing to assure satisfaction, I have not carried the 5" 1911. I am, however, ready if the need becomes glaringly apparent. Rioting is one major grid failure away.

Furthermore [and in closing], I include my .22LR 317LS in the listings. With sweet grips and smooth back-pocket draw, it provides a fair amount of assurance, in it's deterrence against an opportunist or two. An accurate, smooth shooter, I'd have no problem trusting my wife to properly use this 2.25" revolver.

This S&W is selected when taking my wife to a show of her choosing, usually in better parts of the City. These selected performances attract hordes of trusting liberals, the ones who believe crime doesn't affect them. An amusement of these flocking sheeple is my entertainment and, for it's duration, my sole compensation, for attending these alternative music venues. Several hours are then spent combatting nausea, as the performer is usually dripping with enough self love and sensitivity to make one vomit.

I guess you can tell that the holster is pretty important in my decisions.

My license should arrive in another six weeks. I have a Bersa Thunder .380 CC with a pocket holster and a paddle holster. I'm looking for an IWB holster. I am also looking for something more powerful for when I don't need something as tiny as the Bersa. I plan to buy a Walther P99 and an XD-45, but I have not decided which to buy first.
