It's good to see everyone's working to get along again! This is The High Road, after all.

No nation lacks for blood on its hands, some more recently and painfully than others. The past is the past. It cannot be changed. As individuals -- and as citizens of our respective countries -- all we can affect is the present and the future. More shooting at targets and tasty animals and less shooting at one another might be a nice goal.

I'm with Herself on this. We're all individuals and we're all citizens of different countries and I'm sure we're all loyal to our respective countries (but not necessarily in agreement with each and every policy of each country's gov'ts). One thing we can agree on is we all like guns. Another point is both the USA and Russia (or more accurately the old Soviet Union as a whole) are both countries where people have always hunted. A case in point... Vasili Zeitsev (sp?) who was the top Russian sniper during WW2 was said to be an expert hunter from Siberia. GnnySgt Carlos Hathcock III- the USMC sniper during the Vietnam War- was a hunter from Arkansas. While one needn't be a hunter to be a sniper, and needn't be a sniper to be a hunter, Zeitsev and Hathcock are a paralell of history in these two countries. If we can lay off the fighting and suing and enjoy a lot more hunting and fishing and recreational shooting, the people of our countries actually have a lot in common.
