Is Century Arms an importer? I saw a Romanian Sar1 at a gun show with Century Arms on the box. I was just curious about this. Thanks Tim

They also make guns, probably through 3rd parties. This usually means surplus parts along with a US made receiver and enough US parts to satisfy the BATF. These are sometimes okay and sometimes junk, but never really good, as best I can tell.

That's right. Century generally imports surplus firearms or parts, and then puts them on US-made receivers, with ither parts required to make them legal in most states.

Century is known to have questionable build QA, so if you buy a Century firearm, be willing to tweak it or send it back as needed.

I own two Cenutury-built firearms (SAR-3 and CETME) and both required some tweaking. However, there's nothing wrong with the parts and both are good shooters that I am happy with. I have read reports of people sending firearms back to Century, and they report good (though slow) results.

I've never bought a gun they "manufactured", but I have bought some of their C&R imports and have been satisfied with their products and service. As stated, they aren't exactly speed demons.

They've ruined a few of their C&Rs with badly done import stamps, some literally. Check most of the #4 Enfields they did for a high spot in the rifling where they stamped at the right side of the barrel.

I bough one of their FAL knock-offs and I had been checking them out at a local store for years (litterally). They finally had one in good condition when I had the money and I took it home.

It wasn't much of a shooter at first but I lightened the trigger return spring and that helped a ton. With medocre PMP hunting ammo it's capable of 2" 5 shot groups off the bench. I haven't worked up any handloads for it yet but I'm running low on mil-surp so I'm going to have to start. The Israli mil-surp is "minute of pieplate" at 100 yards. I'm hoping with handloads I can get it down to 1.0 or 1.5 MOA. It seems capable of it.

Cosmeticly the finish wears easily but it wasn't going to be a collectors item in the 1st place, just a parts gun so I'm not upset.
