I recently purchased a CETME parts kit from Cheaper Than Dirt. It was only $10 for a fore stock, two butt stocks three hand grips, and misc parts. In the same order, I ordered their used green G3 butt stock, handgrip and fore stock, which also ran for $10.

The reason I bought the CETME parts is that I like wooden furniture. The fore stock from the CETME fits the HK91 just fine. The CETME butt stock also fits in the G3 buffer/recoil spring assembly, as long as the buffer hasn't been installed. But the butt stock buffer hole on the CETME stock is about 2mm higher than the HK buffer hole.

Has anybody ever modified a CETME stock to fit on a 91? It seems to me that if I just chisel out some of the wood to make room for the HK buffer, it should work. Does anybody have any advice before I begin chopping? I figured it was nice of CTD to include two butt stocks, in case I mess up too badly on one of them.:D

Did you get the whole stock assembly, or just the wood?

If you got the whole assembly, it'll work fine in the G3 with one small measurement to look at:

54 Guide Ring for recoil rod (plastic or steel)

Item 54 needs to match the rifle you are using it in. The Cetme uses a smaller diameter retainer.

If you just got the wood, you'll need to pull your woodworking 101 skills out and fit it into the G3 stock metal.

You can use your dremel with sandpaper tool or other method to reduce the diameter on the G3 retainer (it's plastic, so take it easy).

Thanks. It turned out to be rather easy. The CETME stock just needed a little shaved out of the bottom of the buffer hole to fit the G3 metal. My '91 looks pretty good with that CETME furniture on it.
