I'm just starting to reload 223. I'm prepping cases, had bought some CFE223. While a local gunshow, ran across some H335 that seems real popular, (there was some Varget there too, (but I had already reached my budget). The gun is a TWS, 1:9, Hornady 55gr jhp. How would those that have done this, go about making the best set of loads to compare?

H335 is a standard powder for .223 with a 55 grainer. Start low and work up. You may have to load mid range to get it to cycle properly. CFE is a popular powder too. I have not tried it, as it is not readily available. Those two and 748 are the go to powders for .223. When working up a load make sure everything is consistent, brass, primer, bullet, trim length, COL. You must FL or Small base size for the AR.

I've used several pounds if CFE 223 in my various ARs and 22-250. It is clean and meters well. Accuracy is acceptable. Velocity is good.

Both powders (CFE223 and H335) i use all the time. CFE burns very clean. I use CFE223 in 5 different calibers. Those same 5 calibers get H335 as well plus 4 more calibers.

If you want to compare loads, my accuracy load was smack dab in the middle of both powder loads, for 223 on an AR platform. But every gun is different.

H335 is really popular, I have heard many of highpower shooters say if you can't find a load between 24 and 25gr of H335 with a 55gr bullet that your rifle will shoot then something's wrong with the rifle.
