So, how about starting a chain email as activism? Who here has done it? Why can't we start one of those viral emails that has some blessing at the end and gets forwarded to multiple people--an attempt to raise awareness. Something along the lines of this:

As many of you may know, ABC just did a rather biased piece on firearm purchases, their use in crimes and the apparant inability of Americans to defend themselves. Some of you were likely horrified by this, and others disgusted.

It talks about how an expelled student tried to orchestrate a mass murder at Virginia's Appalachian School of Law but was stopped by other students who had guns of their own--oh, you didn't know about how that actually was stopped? Well, I guess that's America's 'fair and unbiased' news for you. It also talks about a mass shooting at a school graduation dance in Edinboro, Pennsylvania was stopped by a gun owner, and gives multiple other instances of such occurences as well. It's a great read, and would take you only a minute. There are other such occurrences in the past, but they are not widely covered by our news media--why is that?
Even if you didn't go the article and read it, you are now aware that there have been cases where mass shootings were attempted and didn't work in the places where law abiding citizens are allowed to carry. That's because law abiding citizens tend to do the right thing, even if it means putting their lives on the line to stop a crazy person--think about it, if you were trapped in a crowded room, and someone disobeyed the already existing laws by starting a killing spree, would you rather be armed or unarmed? If you didn't answer the question, did you really give the possibility any thought--it couldn't happen to me, you say.
Did you know that each year, guns are used approximately 2 million times in self defense. Consider this, there are only about 300 million people in America. That could mean 1 percent of them thwarted attempts of evil people intent on doing harm. So, how many others were unarmed and had to pay with their wallets, their bodies or their lives? Further, a study of firearms used in self defense concluded there are at least 400,000 fewer violent crimes due to civilian self-defense use of guns and at least 800,000 violent crimes are deterred each year because of gun ownership and use by civilians. Those are some pretty staggering numbers, but as gun ownership is discouraged by our news media, you can be sure the increase in violent crime will be related to demonizing of guns in general. http://saf.org/LawReviews/SouthwickJr1.htm
If you find what you read encouraging and a good balance to what ABC just tried to do, good. If not, that's okay too--the great thing about America is everyone is actually entitled to their opinion. As long as we keep the right to keep and bear arms alive, Freedom of Speech will also stand. Or did you not realize that the purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to ensure the 1'rst?
