Charter Off Duty

I got a used Charter off duty for the wife to carry. It was made sometime in the 90s and Charter has changed hands and places many times. Their quality can be spotty so research when the "good" years and places of manufacture were. If you find one made during a good year, don't hesitate to get it. The wife's has functioned flawlessly since she got it.

My very first centerfire handgun was a Charter Arms Off Duty. None of my buddies could shoot it straight, but it worked very well for me. That was in the early 80s, when Charter was good stuff. If it was marked Charco or Charter 2000 I wouldn't walk across the street to throw it in the garbage.

There sure is a good reason NOT to purchase a Charter Arms gun. THEY’RE JUNK!.

When I lived in Colorado my LGS got a smoking hot deal on some new Charter Arms 38 Special revolvers. He purchased 10. Four guns did not fire the first cylinder full of standard velocity ammo before they broke. Enough said?

My dealer in Colorado had no reason to make any of that up. Did you see the picture just above my post of the Charter Arms gun with the cracked frame? I’m sure that poster just doesn’t know what he’s talking about either. Now run along and pretend that your Charter Arms guns are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I really like my CA revolvers. Two have been great. Two had to go back to Charter for repairs. At this point I'd be kinda hesitant about buying another one, which is a shame because they have some interesting niche revolvers.

Can’t believe how many years I have owned Charter Bulldogs in 44spl .. and I must say this the best I’ve owned….
( I guess I should have ran this purchase and other Charter purchases and J frame purchases through the troll here )
I guess we need to seek his seal of approval..

I’d search Charter Arms threads and posts here at THR.

The current Charter Arms revolvers aren’t made to the same standards of the original line from the ‘60s and 70’s.
Actually my brand spanking new .45 pitbull is just as reliable and accurate as my three first generation (60s) undercover

Charter Arms makes a fine pistol.

Anyone saying otherwise must be afraid to admit ANY manufacturer gives out duds from time to time.

The .44 special out of a Bulldog is a close range manstopper. Tons of knock down in a featherweight easy to conceal package.
