Charter Arms had some rough periods. I think it was in the 1990's, I called and Charter Arms had been sold. The lady on the phone said the former Plant Manager had been incentivized to make lots of parts, but the financial incentives were not about complete guns. So the factory had plies of in process parts. That is bad, because if the in process parts had defects, they likely got into production, and would likely get back into production with the new owners. I think it was then, Charter Arms had glued on barrel shrouds, and they came unglued.
Overall, the original designs were made for fast manufacturing. Properly built Charter Arms pistols will work, and if a reloader puts +P rounds in the things, given enough rounds the non +P Charter Arms will blow the barrel and crack the barrel end.
Duh.
