Charter or Taurus

Why don't you carry your vintage CA's? Mine is vintage also so I'm interested in knowing your reasons.

They have been perfectly reliable and accurate durable. The ONLY reason I don't carry them is because I sweat alot and a blued finish just doesn't hold up as well as stainless or alloy. If I am not working I could carry them but I don't do the "carry rotation" thing.
My 1972 Undercover is about as light as my 85 UL.

I cannot recommed taurus.
I have had 4 9mm versions of their small framed revolvers.
3 of which were replacements for unserviceable guns.
And I've found their customer service to be less than homest.
They said they were going to send me a magazine for a PT-22.
That was 3 years ago.
Ive called 4 or 5 times since.
Always the same lie
We'll get out to you shortly.
They have the correct address

Isn't that the definition of a hipster?

Of course, and what many of us would call "Old", "used", "classic", "antique", they break out "vintage" like it's a bottle of wine or a car:p
At 39, I'm a proto-millennial. First of our kind. I speak hipster but don't identify as one. I wear a lot of flannel but not in an ironic way. Mostly because I'm a contractor and partly because my sense of style hasn't changed since 1992.

Edit to fix grammatical error.

We have 3 Taurus revolvers (2 each 85’s and one 617) and they all shoot well. No experience with Charter other than handling at gun shows.

I just checked.

The 16 oz Taurus 856 UL (Stainless/Aluminum) in Black Matte is $239.99 with no rebate at my LGS through the end of February.

He is out of the steel guns.

Just my personal take, but I prefer the standard over the UL, just for the additional weight to help with recoil. Nothing helps with the 617 and full power loads though.....lol

As for my wife, she admits the 85 is a bit heavy in her purse at times but she prefers the recoil help with the few extra ounces it has. If she is out and about for a long time she'll move over to the Walther CCP in 9MM to reduce weight on her shoulder/arms carrying her purse.

I started with a Charter Arms Undercover (many years ago), as my CCW. For the money it wasn't a bad choice (couldn't afford the more expensive used S&W Model 36), just that it had some problems the first time I took it to the range. This didn't exactly inspire a great deal of confidence in me but I kept it around for some time til I could afford something better (in my case that would be a S&W J frame). I have looked at current production Charter Arms and Taurus revolvers and still feel that they're just a notch below S&W and Ruger snubbies in terms of overall quality but that for the money they're a decent buy.
