I just got off the phone with centerfire and they told me that the reason that the 4 "wolf packs" of 100 rounds of the 55 grain fmj that i had ordered to go with my new 5.56 AK/ Weiger clone have not come in for the month ive been waiting on my order, is because they have nothnig but some random brand of expensive .223 reloads in stock. In spite of their website saying that the wolf is in stock and letting you buy it.

Anyway.

Does anyone know of anywhere that has:

Privi-Partizan .223/5.56, Igman, or S&B for decent/as good as can be found prices in stock?

Anyone seen any steel cased .223 anywhere that they know to have it in stock in the past little while?

It looks like i picked the WRONG time to buy an AK in .223 i should just stick with shooting my ak-74 clone... :(

just found some wolf .223 62grain FMJ for about $6 a box. Cant seem to find it for any cheaper anywhere else. Ive never shot very much .223 anything, have never shot steel .223 stuff at all. Im guessing that the fact that its an AK would make it better disposed to the steel cased stuff.

My centerfire order has been languishing since June. I was able to jump on an additional 400 rounds of Wolf .223 fmj that was a cancellation. Someone could probably take them to court about the false advertising. Their phone reps will admit to not having it in stock.

I ended up ordering S&B from Cheaper than Dirt, although I had problems with their packaging of it. CTD had it on hand and their website is accurate re: in stock. Expensive, though.

I keep hearing that every 223 component and round made is being forwarded to the sandbox.

I went to gander mtn and looked on the shelf and sure enough, there were maybe 2 boxes of wolf, 1 box of Remington, and 10 boxes of black hills.

Everything else was in full stock in anticipation of Deer season. Faced and Stacked.

Perhaps the rumours are true.

From what I have been seeing, there isn't any such thing as "cheap" anything anymore.
Even loading your own only makes it "manageable" as opposed to "cheap".

I dunno if I'd call it cheap considering this is the price I paid per case last time I got it, but it looks like SG has the 500rd sardine cans of Wolf for $120

I think ammoman.com still has Wolf in stock.

Luckily for me, I'm sitting on a 3-year (for me, anyway) supply of cases, primers, powder and brass.

Consider reloading?

AIMSurplus.com just got Silver Bear/Barnaul HP and SP in. That's my favorite .223 aside from stuff I can't afford to blast. It runs about $100/500rds

Hm. Ours has Black Hills and Federal (American Eagle) which my AR eats up just fine. I assume you've already tried cheaperthandirt.com and Outdoor Marksman?

I got 3 boxes of 20 rds for $4 ea at Dicks Sporting Goods. Its 62 gr Golden Bear from Russia but it shoots ok. I also picked up a box of Vmax for $16/ 20rds. What I wanna know is when did 22 WMR become more than 9mm?

I bought brown bear soft point from ammo to go a month ago and they still have it listed at $98 for 500. I've used this in both .223 and x39 and had no problems and very good performance.

The shop here has plenty of .223 on the shelves,as does Wal-mart. It ain't cheap though, $7.60 for 20 rounds of S&B at the local money trap/gun shop:D and it's about the same for UMC at Wal-mart.
"Don't buy ammo at Wal-mart!"
Whatever,it's the cheapest deal out there. And it's available now.

Woo Hoo! Yip Yip Yip Kaiie! Kaiie! (rebel yell)

Centerfire systems just shipped my .223 order!

How much, you ask? Yeah, you got it, 100 pounds of .223!

Kaiie!

Pounds, dude, pounds.

I'm mainly chuffed because I've been waiting since June but this is one of the biggest ammo purchases I made.

And it was a good price for 2007

Shoot 50 rounds of .223, then get a .22lr and shoot 300 rounds. It saves a whole lot of money.

Ammoman prices is $250 per 1K Shipped for Wolf...I just got 2 cases last week... it isn't cheap compared to 3 years ago, but it ain't 3 years ago no more..;)

If you're needing some .223 ammo and don't mind high quality ammo, give Ed a call at Midstates Shooters Supply. He also runs Patriot Centerfire and loads some extremely accurate ammunition.
His web site is: http://www.carrollsweb.com/gunshop/html/contact_us.html
and if the link doesn't work, his number is: 785-488-3886. I've been shooting his ammo for quite a while as have quite a few of the shooters around here and we couldn't be more impressed.
