I have CTD ship via FedEx to my house and just leave it on the porch all the time, no problem.

Only time they made a mistake is when they once sent me two of everything I ordered, but only billed me for one.. I didn't complain.

Well I'd frown on that sort of lack of gun retention too. That isn't a carry issue, but an irresponsible carry issue. Total lack of gun retention should be frowned on.

I've never done anything that boneheaded. No one at work has ever seen my gun(s), except those I shoot with at the range have seen them at the range.

Regarding not carrying in a post office:

My NRA pistol training course instructor told me that. I'm not saying whether he's right or wrong, but just that he told us that in class.

I'm not going to bring it into a post office. I don't need to. Postal employees only shoot each other, not customers. So I should be safe enough without it.

bring your gun to work day

I am sooo glad my boss doesn't mind guns in the office.
He doesn't even like them, just doesn't mind.
We don't have a Concealed Carry in Nebraska (yet) but we
do have bring your gun to work day at my office - Thursday.
I shoot in a Thursday evening CMP league and leave from work
to get to the range on time. Every Thursday all summer long
my M1A-NM is propped next to my desk. (or whatever we
decide to shoot instead)

the pay is ok, the hours are long and the work is boring -
but I can do show and tell in my cube with anything that goes bang.

I even get to go shooting with clients sometimes..
beats the heck out of golf anyday.

I stayed away from this thread for a while, but checked back tonight.

I'm going to check out: TheWilderness.com, SmartCarry.com, and Thunderwear.com very closely. They look great so far.

I don't neeeed no stinkin fanny pack (except fot tools)!

I'm also going to get one of those lockboxes in my car like the other fellow suggested.

No one ever told the upper bosses about my gun fanny packs. The middle management boss doesn't care. I'm lower management; so I outrank most employees. i.e. - I don't have care what they think (as long as they don't complain over my head).

The two anit-gun people at work never found out about it.

In the end, there's no harm done. It had all the ingredients of trouble, but I got lucky.

All is well that ends well.

It looks like this has pretty well been resolved now, but just to beat this horse a little more...

I'm not sure that you can really blame CTD for this incident. While it certainly may be true that they didn't put your full legal name on the package as you requested, I think more of the blame lies in your own lap for having it shipped to your work place. I don't know how it is at your work place, but at mine ALL packages are opened and THEN distributed (unless they are marked confidential).

Maybe this has been asked and answered already, but why do you have to have your full legal name on the package? Why not just the typical first and last?

Anyway, I'm glad it all worked out for you and you didn't get in trouble with the bosses.

By the way, Cheaper Than Dirt really isn't. They are just a short drive from my house so I could easily buy stuff there without having to pay for shipping. However, in my experience they have always been higher than other online sources where I DO have to pay shipping. That's probably not true for everything, but for ammo and magazines and the typical gun related stuff that I buy they are most definitely NOT "cheaper than dirt".

Yes it's been resolved.

I even kissed and made up with Cheaper than Dirt some time ago.

It worked out at work too.

I really don't think there's anything more to say, except thanks to the people who gave me holster advice and car lock box advice. Also thanks to those with helpul advice on the work environment.

Shipping from CTD to Mailboxes Etc. - DON'T DO IT

I ordered ammo from CTD and had it shipped to a Mailboxes Etc. in Illinois. The box fell apart and guess what rolled out? Yes, a few loose .45 ACP cartridges.

Mr. Butthead at Mailboxes Etc. tells me to not have stuff shipped their anymore and we end up having a nice blowup.

Don't you keep/carry your tools in one of those fancy aluminum briefcases like the Xerox techs all used to carry when Xerox actually made, sold and repaired copiers? Just get a bigger one -- get one that has at least one center "flap" or divider or whatever they call 'em. The "bottom" compartment is actually for storing the gun and spare magazines (or speed loaders), and the upper compartment is for the tools. Get one with a combination lock so nobody can decide to borrow a screwdriver if you're in the men's room.

If your car is parked off company property, I would not leave a gun in it. Too easy to steal the whole car, and the thief gets a surprise bonus after he gets it where he's going.

you are the only one to blame. you should of had it delivered to your residence. the ups guy would just drop it off and you would see it on your door step, or at the most make you pick it up at a ups depot if nobody was around to get a signature, or didnt want to leave it on the porch or out in a hallway.

I most always have stuff shipped to me at work. I just let those that get the packages know I'm expecting something. No big deal. Gun related or not, it's never been an issue. I've had stocks and bbls sent to me there. Never anything said. No alrams rang either. I could have them sent to my house also. Nobody's likely to be home during delivery hours though. Again, not a big deal. I feel perfectly safe and secure where we live. Have had numerous packages left on the doorstep. If I lived in an area that I didn't have this confidence in, I'd certainly move.
I see nobody really at fault here. As far as the incomplete name, I've had this happen before also. I'm guessing it's a semi-common practice as well do the same at work too. Never had issues with it before. The attention getting packaging...IT'S SUPPOSED TO ATTRACT ATTENTION. :banghead: If a lesson was learned, great. If one is in a work enviorment with this type of possible atmosphere then maybe, just maybe having anything gun related would be a second thought situation to begin with. Not blaming, just saying.
