I was given a pound of 700x, I don't normally use this for 9mm but it was cheap :)

I looked in the Lyman 49th and the closest data I can find is for a 115 JHP. Lyman says a max of 4.4g.

My Lee Auto Disc that is on my 9mm turret is throwing this powder a little bit erratic, with it set at 4.0 I get drops anywhere from 3.9-4.2. I think I can live with that, if not, I might have to put a Auto Drum on there to get it into a tighter range.

C.O.A.L is set at 1.090, the bullets are Winchester 115g FMJ

I have read data from other sources that tells me all kinds of data with max loads from 4.2-5.0, some info I have read says to load it light around 3.8g.

My question is: Will I be okay at 4.0g with this load?

I plan on loading 30 today and trying them out if my data checks out.

Hi SARuger
The Hodgdon reloading site says 3.9 grains (gr) min and 4.2 grains max for a 115 gr Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point - They tend to be conservative.
The Sierra manual, which uses the same data for FMJ and JHP, lists 3.8 gr to 5.0 gr max (WSP primers).
Cheers.

Yep, I checked my Sierra manual and it was so high for a max that I just closed it!

I'm a new re-loader and I'm a safety nut, not to mention OCD. There is so much variance in load data out there that when I see one thats so far above or below everyone else I make a note in my manual to look elsewhere.

My thinking is I'm right in the middle of most all of the ranges that I found and I should be just fine. Both of my 9mm are +P rated so going at or over max shouldn't result in a bad way but I'm a mechanic and I need all of my fingers and hands. A Toyota already ate one of my fingers, I need the rest.

My Speer manual says 4.0 to 4.4.
Lyman pistol and revolver says 3.1 to 4.5 with the 4.5 being
"potentially most accurate load". at 1.090 OAL

I need the Speer manual, on my list!

Thank you for the data. It looks like I'm in the range with them too.

Well that was a success!

I loaded 30 rounds of Winchester 115g FMJ into "once fired" Blazer brass, with 4.0g of 700x and drove the 5 miles to the range, which on arrival, I found out it was closed for range instruction for the new members.

The Range Boss knew me and they let me shoot anyway as long as helped out for a few minutes after I was done, sure why not!

I placed a paper plate at 25 yards, loaded the Sig Saur P250c and tried my handy work out.

All 30 cycled smooth with low recoil and even though I'm not the best shot with a semi-auto, I placed 25 rounds in the plate. Pretty darn accurate for me to be shooting much further than I practice which is normally 7 yards.

No real pressure signs at all, maybe some slight flattening of the primer on a couple. Nothing of concern. The barrel looks clean on inspection, when I got home.

My thoughts are; I will load with it until the bottle is gone, I will probably go back to HP38/W231 after that. Not disappointed at all in the 700x except the metering makes me a little anxious.

Thanks for the responses, the knowledge on THR is always spot on!

Just going on memory since my notes are not in front of me, I think I used 4.9g of 231 and an OAL of 1.125

I load 8 calibers so things get scrambled, glad I take notes!
