Wow :what:! How many pounds of pressure are necessary to fire a primer? I guess whatever force is created by an ejected .40 casing!

I would have never suspected this was possible...but you learn something new every day.

Okay, I must remember to cover my ammo when at the range...something I don't normally do.

I'd guess more like one in a billion.

Mythbusters did an interesting episode wherein they baked cartridges in an oven. They found that when a cartridge is outside the gun, the greater inertia of the bullet itself causes the shell casing to become the projectile, while the bullet stays roughly stationary. The case was going fast enough to dent the inside of the oven.

Huh! I've never considered that before; it definitely makes sense though. Good to know.
