Children in an adult gun site?

I don't really find it the least bit out of line to expect parents to monitor and supervise their children and what they view on the computer nor do I find it out of line for parents to teach their children proper gun safety and right from wrong so if they are on a web site such as this they will be fine.

Don't know if it relvant, but I'd rather have my son wasting a few hours here than on a porn site. You can learn things either place, but I'd rather that he waited afew years to learn whats on the porn sites. As far as having an age limit, people don't be have enough of big brother or mama what ever in the school district and goverment telling us how our children should be raised.

If you have a problem with a kid being on the site, maybe you should look at what you are posting. The only really blood and guts reading is S&T and we all know how fast Zombie threads get squashed over there. As far as the next school shooterer uper coming to learn here, I doubt that, they are probably on what ever the most popular 1st person shooter game of the day site talking about what they will do when the Aliens come.

ok at 15 years old i had made my first molototiv cocktail out of some household items. parents dont need to watch out for this site. If anyone asked me how to make a pipebomb well i wouldnt tell them if i knew how to make it ;) point is this site is one of the best places for a child over 10 years old to learn from. i think school is more dangerous than this site. at school there is always few people who will know how to do illegal stuff and be more than willign to share info.

btw im 18 i open carry, i am attending gunsmithing for two year degree next spring. so i can relate to this day and age on what they teach you in school.

I joined THR awhile ago. I'm 16 now and almost 17, I took a break from this site for awhile because I was so young and still am now. To me I really don't see them problem of "kids" being on here when they are mature and are wanting to learn.

THR has taught me some many things, that don't directly have anything to do with firearms.

for example: World History, Machining, Metallurgy, Economics, Politics, and a few other things.

Basically I'm trying to say its a wonderful resource for mature teens (oxymoron?) that want to learn more about firearms and other things such as mentioned above.

Who bought the computer?
Who pays for the internet connection?
Who pays for the electricity?
Who allows its unsupervised use?
Who doesn't set up the proper software/hardware to keep the little tykes from seeing 'naughty' stuff?

So, let's see - if your child sees something "bad" on the 'net, who's fault is it?

It's your job to raise your kids; not ours.

There are plenty of programs out there that allow you to block as many internet sites as you see fit, assuming you let your child use the computer unsupervised in the first place.

Besides, the odds that your child is spending more time here than on one of the millions of porn sites are minimal, considering they've got your computer, their friends' computers, the computers at school, their PSP or web-enabled phone, etc... etc...

The battle cry of "what about the children!?!" has been beaten to death. Let it be.

This is probably the classiest forum I've come across in all my years on the 'net, and I was on before there was a pretty WWW with a clickable interface.

I cant really speak as a kid anymore since im 21 now but until about two years ago, i didn't know anything about guns. growing up, my dad had a few rifles, a couple shotguns and a revolver but he never really shot them much and so i really didn't learn anything from him. i bought a 10/22 when i was 18 and that was all i had for a couple years. i started researching guns and trying to learn all i could about them (how they work, whats legal, cost, etc) while i was in college because i didn't have a whole lot of classes. i have learned quite a bit from the internet in the past 2 years but most of it in about the last 6 months from this website. i was an engineering student and designed a 50 caliber rifle using Pro-Engineer(thats why i wanted to know how they worked). My dad has a Marlin Model 60 that he took to a gunsmith about 10 years ago because it wasn't ejecting right and the gunsmith told him that its not worth fixing because there is so much work involved in fixing it, so its been sitting in the safe since then(he didn't want to get rid of it because his parents gave it to him when he was a kid). Well needless to say, one night i was bored and decided to see what the internals of a model 60 looked like. well i took it apart, did a little research, and found a spring that had been put in wrong. i took it apart and put it back together the right way and oiled it up and went out and shot it the next day and it worked like a dream. now at the age of 21, i own a 10/22, an ar-15, an sks, and a 50 caliber(not the one i designed though). i definately owe alot to the people of this forum for teaching me so much. so by all means, dont block your kids from gun forums, especially The High Road!!!

After reading all the posts on how my question infringed on so many reader's intenets, I decided to randomly pull a quote right from one
for my signature line, thanks. Thank you, to all concerned, for showing me the error of my thoughts. No offense was intended.

THE DARK KNIGHT is batman, I happen to be a comic book fan since I was a kid and was always partial to Batman.

That said, I stand by my opinion that SHTF, Zombie, etc. fantasy threads are a waste of space and make the whole of us look like a bunch of loons and ought to be deleted on sight.

Exactly my point - you enjoyed comic books (fantasy) as a kid and still claim the childhood fantasy hero as a screen name.

Your screen name screams fantasy-fantasy-fantasy but you claim fantasy threads are a waste of space and make us look like loons. I was just making reference to the contradictions to which you seem oblivious and the fact that I find it humorous.

Any child with the patience, literacy and interest to be reading Threads on this site...probably has enough maturity TO be here, and, to be doing self directed learning.

I'd have loved finding this site when I was say eleven or twelve...ten even...and nothing I've ever seen here would have interfered with my healthy-reasonable education-learning 'then'.

dude if your worried about your kids on this website, you haven't browsed much of the internet.
