Not the denial as I originally thought, but an actual hard plastic honest to goodness license!

To celebrate I took my wife, my son, and my gun out to dinner! It felt strange. Its a strange feeling sitting there with that gun on your hip. There were times that I forgot it was there and other times it felt like hugh growth sticking out 3 feet from my side.

My first time CCW went well. My wife didn't even notice.

I thought I was going to get denied too (this was back in the bad ol' days before MN passed shall-issue). I had just gotten back from college and was expecting a denial any day. I got up late on my first Monday back and my mom had left a note "The Police Station called. You can come pick up your permit." And I was thinking that she had it wrong. Nope. Got down there, had my picture taken, and walked out w/ my permit. Carried for the first time while I was running errands that afternoon.

I know how you feel. I was so excited. And the first day I carried I felt my gun all the time and I was sure everyone would know. That goes away though. Now I hardly notice it. I only notice it if it isn't there. Then my hip feels oddly light. :(

Once again, congratulations. (What are you packing?)

I too was surprised how easy it is here in PA compared to other states... just fill out the form... I forget the number... you know the one though.. the same one you fill out when buying a gun.. wait for the insta check pay the fee and thats that...

Lucky Dogs....

I'm one of the few regular citizens to get a CCW in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey....in 1975. I was the manager of a gold refinery in Jersey City. Kept millions of bucks in gold in a safe in my office.

Forms
Investigation by Local, State, County, and Federal
Hundreds of Dollars
Classes and Shooting for Score
Letter of Prerequisite Need (This is one of the hard things to get approved)
Explaination of why I needed it to a judge in open criminal court (6 others at the same time were disapproved)
Approval by Judge
Approval by Police Chief (who can knock it down because he feels like it) Jersey is a 'may' issue state after all.
It took six months.

To keep it, you had to do all of the above every two years...the entire thing. It was so much trouble, I gave the thing up after two years. Oh, and you can only carry at work, and to and from work...you cannot carry otherwise. What a pain.

Of the 8 million slaves in this state, only 30,000 have CCWs...nearly all retired LEOs.

Having said the above, this is Joisey and so lots of people carry anyway.
