CZ 83 (.380 with blow-back operation)
CZ 75 (full size 9mm)
Glock 17 (full size 9mm)

Which of the above has the least recoil for an aging woman? Discard other attributes such as caliber, reliability, etc.

The CZ 75 as it's heavier than the Glock since it's not polymer. While the 9mm is more recoil than .380 all things being equal a blowback design will have more recoil than a locked breach like the 75.

I would add Remington RM380 to your list, I got mine in May, it has light recoil compared to other mouse guns, also it is very easy to rack the slide.

In a little over 300 rounds it is running 100% with no failures, if you can find one try it up against other 380's and 9 mm.

Blowback 380 likely have the most.
Full size steel and / or polymer both absorb recoil.

The Glock does not have much muzzle flip but it does have a real snappiness to its recoil that someone who is recoil sensitive is likely to find unpleasant. The CZ75, especially one with an extended frame like the SP01 or Shadow, will be more pleasant to shoot.

Would have to go with the all steel full size CZ 75 as having less felt recoil than the other two guns. One thing to consider though with the CZ 75 design is that the slide runs inside of the frame. This gives you slightly less slide to grasp onto while you're trying to chamber a round. Might be difficult for someone with any sort of disability or lack of strength with their hands and/or fingers.

If a person has special requirements, then they need to try various guns, and see what works for them. If the only issue is recoil, then the CZ75 seems most likely. But different people can perceive recoil differently, and each person's view is the right answer for them. Also, in the real world there are other important factors like grip size, trigger reach, and ability to rack the slide.

So to answer the poll, I would have to choose none of the above. I can make some educated guesses, but I really cannot say what will be the best choice for someone else.

I go with the rest on the CZ My old little steel frame Mustangs in 380 have very little recoil but being a SA pistol not sure I have her get one.

KelTec P-32 small lite and little recoil.

My CZ75 is low on recoil, but might be hard to rack.

I am not sure that my CZ83 has more recoil than my CZ75. It's a solid medium-sized gun.

They are both good shooters.

why only 3 choices? 2 are CZ, 1 Glock

Why not any of the 3 rotating barrel: Stoeger Cougar 9mm, Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm, or Slovakia Grand Power P11 MK2 9mm?
They are very easy to rack the slide and very soft recoil....their prices are very much reasonable.
Regards,

Another gun you might want to look at is the 1911-380 Black Label from Browning.

Having shot the Colt Govt Model 380 I can tell you that the Browning 1911-380 Black Label is a soft-recoiling gun.

I think a full-sized short-recoil tilting barrel design chambered in .380 ACP has a niche.

If someone would import the Tanfoglio FT-9 it would sell:

Tanfoglio FT9

380 AUTO
28 oz
8.07" OAL
4.60" barrel

As posted, the CZ 75 due to the weight of the all steel pistol. It won't be close either.

As an owner of a CZ75D PCR and a CZ82, the alloy framed locked breech 75D has much less felt recoil than the steel framed blowback operated 82.

I know these aren't exact duplicates of what the OP is asking about, but the 82 feels like it snaps in your hands when fired and seems to drop the muzzle with each shot. The 75 smoothly recoils and the muzzle stays much more on target in the follow through.

So I vote for the 75 for the metal framed DA/SA pistol choice. The only way I would pick the Glock over the 75 would be as a carry gun due to weight reduction.

lightweight polymer frame, tilt barrel locked breech , single stack thin grip, ambi-safety levers, easy to press SA trigger, AND an large easy to grip slide all in .380?

Wow, I think you have a winner there. I didn't even know it existed. I want to get one for my wife and daughters.

EDIT: per the article below, it is slightly smaller than a full size 1911. So it ought to fit smaller hands nicely. Aw geez, I think I have to buy this gun.

Darkstar, I should have said that my recommendation from those posted would be the CZ-83/CZ-82. IDK which would actually have the least felt recoil; I just wouldn't hand a person with strength issues a 9x19mm gun. That just IMO, though.

Gotcha. Since the poster specifically asked only about which would have the least felt recoil (with no consideration of other variables) the answer is without a doubt the 75 9mm. By a long shot. Confirmed by a member who owns the 75 and 83.

I think the 380 fueled 1911 would be the best choice for the situation.
I love my 75, but without sufficient grip strength, it could be a hassle racking the slide unfortunately.

Anyway of taking her to a range that has rentals , she needs to handle whatever she picks if possible , but of the 3 you posted i would pick the cz75

CZ 75 when shot with 145gr has very little recoil. It also fits the thumb pocket better than the glock (at least to me). I have shot both and the cz 75 was way less. Can't comment on other CZ.
