Choosing Between these 3 Revolvers

I've had a 19-5 for about 35 years and although I have bought many other guns I keep coming back to this gun as my go-to home defense gun. It is a 4-in barrel, nickel plated beauty. I recently changed out the beautiful wood grips for a Crimson Trace laser sight. In my opinion, nothing feels better in my hand than a K-frame revolver. And as with any quality revolver, I have no doubt whatsoever that it will go bang when I pull the trigger.

The 19 is recessed?
It wouldn't be available any more if I saw it.

Run & grab it before it's sold.
The grips can be replaced (just don't destroy the originals - if they're numbered to the gun)

Thanks for all of the more recent replies. The 19 is mine now - you can see a pic of it on page 2. I'm looking for the right holster now. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I'm looking for something OWB that rides high and tight. I'm also looking for new grips that are identical to the old ones but I'm not finding anything...I'm not interested in finger grooves.

Hi,
You made the right choice. I have a model 13,19 and 66. The K frame magnum to me is the best handling, best balanced and very few revolvers triggers will equal or be better than the K frame magnum. That is why I own three of them. I have L frames and N frame plus Rugers but nothing equals my K frames. And the 19-4 is the last of the pinned and recessed model 19s. I have a 19-4 and there is not a better revolver in my collection that my 19-4.
Enjoy shooting the finest all around 357 ever made.
Howard

CTG,

Here's what you need to go with that Model 19.

It's what I carry mine in. :)

Also consider modifying those old beat up Targets to a more compatible carry set.. You ain't got nuthin' to lose.;)

I think you should get the one that feels best to you. That said, I have three K frames: M66, M67 and of course a Model 19. As for the grips, ditch 'em and get some after market ones.

Update

The Model19 is proving quickly to be the most accurate gun I own. I have attached two new range pics taken earlier today. Shots were fired at 25 Feet in Double Action. This gun is making me looking a lot better than I am :D ....it truly is a joy to shoot this revolver.

However - nothing is ever perfect. The only issue I am having now is that the extractor rod is coming loose after about 12 rounds fired. Blue Locktite has been applied so we'll see if that helps.

Thanks Iggy. I'll check out the write up.

I would opt for the M19. I own two 3" 686+ and one 6" M19 and all three triggers are better than unbelievable. The 586/686 is frame heavier and sucks up recoil a little better, but, for balance, and for the spouse to shoot, I recommend the M19. just my opinion.

Nice groups you've got there. Years ago I shot a Model 19 that had been slicked up by its owner. First time at the range with it, shooting some pretty hot handloads, I was getting groups similar to yours. Smoothest DA revolver I have ever shot. Looks like you've found the same thing with your Model 19.
