i was interested in the new anaconda but figured it might be easier on developing arthritis in future yrs to go with the python.
it is a beautiful gun but i hope the DA pull lightens up a bit. it is smooth but on the heavy side compared to a 586 with a 12 lb rebound slide spring. as everybody mentions the SA trigger pull is quite heavy compared to a smith or a ruger gp100 or SRH but i plan to shoot it DA mostly which then brings us to the trigger with it's serrations it digs a little as you roll your finger on the trigger. hopefully will take it out over the weekend. the barrel is slightly off, not a typical canted barrel from the newer smiths but not as perfectly lined up as an old model 19 or model 17 i have. hopefully the sights are adequate for now and not have to be replaced with wilson sights right away.i plan to shoot 38s and 357s out of it. do you have to be as careful with it as a model 19 or is it equivalent to a 586/686 or a gp100.

Mark_Mark, sell off some of the motley collection you've been
accumulating and you can have a Colt Python almost
immediately. And I predict you won't miss that motley bunch. :)

blasphemy!

but, I’m on a buying freeze for a few months! until I figure what revolvers I want to master (GP100 MC .. hint hint)

That’s right Mark, see if you can trade that Thunderstruck straight up…🤣. Sorry, I couldn’t help it.

Beautiful gun Roval, in my opinion that 6” barrel looks much better than my 4.25” Python.
i really like the looks of it and i have never watched "the walking dead". i hope it shoots good for me.

I’ll never sell that Thundersuck!

But I do want a Python, wish they made a Blue! It’s too shiny

That’s a beauty @roval
Congratulations!
I really like the looks of the new Colts.
I also have 1 Colt, but it isn’t that good looking. It’s a Colt Detective Special.

One nice touch on the new Python is that the mouths of the
six chambers all feel "smooth" and not sharp such as on
a GP100 or even a S&W. Not chamfered mind you but they
sure have to help in loading.

With the exception of the sharp inlet for the ejector rod,
everything actually is smoothed over, yet corners are not
"ground" away.

Congratulations! It’s a genuine piece of art in wood and steel. The trigger pull will smooth a bit in use; if you’re willing, you can polish the engagement surfaces in the action (no files, no stones, don’t change the angles, just polish) and you’ll see additional improvement. Don’t worry about the strength of the new Python - it’ll stand up to anything within reason. I have 2000 rounds of .357 through mine now and it still looks new. Mine’s also a laser and I suspect you’ll find yours is too. Mine tends to prefer 158 grain ammo, either jacketed or hardcast LSWC’s. Now take it out and shoot it!

i shoot 38 spcls and submax 357 mag loads 158 gr at most anyway but i still have some 125 gr hornady xtp 357 loads with 2400 ( still submax) i loaded for the gp100 a few yrs ago. good to know no problems with those

I've fired 357's in mine, but I normally shoot 38 Wadcutters. I don't shoot anything but paper, and it doesn't take a lot of killing. They just beg to be fired in double-action. I'me sure I've fired mine in SA at some point, but I'll be darned if I can remember it.

Mine.

My wife's. I have to check the S/N's to know for sure which is which.

I'll admit that I don't shoot much further than 7-10 yards at the indoor range.

that 6” would make a good midrange wadcutter gun!

It not only would, but did. I bought a 6" one first, S/N < 3000. It was the first one I saw. Normally I don't care for a 6" barrel, but I kept it for a while until we got the two 4.2 inch ones, then sold it off to someone who wanted it more than I did.

I just think a 4" ish length barrel looks "right." I've got a couple of 6" ones now, but they're the exception. If I could have found then in 4", that's what I'd have gotten.

Double action? Just a passing fad among some young'uns. They'll get over it.
Takes skills to shoot Double Action. Anybody can shoot single action but to shoot like it’s real life and be accurate! Definitely not a fad
