Choppers

Regardless of what it's called, the SKS is becoming prevalent in more criminal activity. Two separate SKS incidents led to 6 dead officers in the State of Alabama in the last 18 months, 3 of which were wearing vests. The SKS will join the AK type rifles in the anti propaganda posters without a doubt.

The SKS is not an "assualt rifle."
That is a term made up by the media. It is a semi-automatic rifle.

Not really pertinent to this discussion but assault rifle is a military term. The SKS doesn't meet it because it isn't select fire.

Hey M2 Carbine My Friend-

I'm very fond of those kind'a choppers too~!:D

A fellow took that when I was landing to pick him up. The ship was a foreign oil tanker with all kinds of junk sticking up in and around the heliport.

A chopper??
I think the Thompson is THE chopper.:)

Just to be clear on this,"Chopper", usually refers to ANY semi or full auto firearms

I don't hear too many people say,"Let me go get my chopper," and then return with an old detective special:)...Southern,"Gangster Rapper's", as they have been dubbed, have fairly good taste in weaponry. Z-Ro, arguably one of the hottest,"Underground", rappers out, has a fetish for the Mini 14, Calico 9mm(first rapper I ever heard mention it,It looked cool in,"I Come In Peace"), AK-47, and HK(don't remember the model)...Jay-Z,composer of the,"It's a Hard Knock Life", remix from,"Annie', that was all the rage about '98, has a thing for H&K firearms...Many more artists refer to Sigs, Glocks, and S&W's..."Lil Wayne", from Louisiana, and now residing in Texas and attending U of H I believe, has dubbed himself a marksmen, and commonly refers to,"K's don't jam, and I don't miss",(paraphrased for THR) and an affinity for the AR:)... The term,"Chopper", has been here since atleast the mid-'80's, come on people get with the times:neener:...

PS-Odldly enough, even in these so-named,"Gangster Rap" songs, I don't hear about too many,"silencers", or ,"suppressors"(only Lil Wayne of my listed rappers has mentioned a suppressor inhis raps), or "full-auto", or SBR's, or SBS's, or MG, but these are the weapons of gangsters  :uhoh:...Of course the anties would try and use that as justification that gun control is working, I would use it as justification for repealing the NFA

Yes Lil Wayne mentions silencing weapons, "stick a potato on the head of my 9, it's deadly and quiet" At least no $200 tax! OT, but I saw I think in the movie, South Central, the potato thing used to silence an M1A!

Maybe "dirty south" rappers are more gun knowledgeable as they may have had more chance to be involved in hunting/shooting in a rural enviorment as to someone from like NYC. I've also heard the calico mentioned which I found interesting as it is somewhat obscure.

Chopper example from early 2000's. Lil Wayne. (he's attending college?)

"They be dressing in black, prepared for combat. Riding four deep strapped with choppers and Macs."

"Lil Wayne", has more money than you can shake a sequoia at!!!

Probably owns more LEGAL NFA items than some small countries...The song,"Bling Bling", was not just a song to them("The Hot Boys/Cash Money Millionaires" their affiliation or group) but a way of life...These guys could pay your child's COLLEGE TUITION, or your mortgage OFF with just the diamonds out of his,"Grill"...Platinum-covered mouth, with diamonds EVERYWHERE...Talk about put your money where your mouth is..This is the same guy that put 20" rims on his 4wheeler...Bought a car and literally changed everything from the frame up(including brake pads and whoses), just so it would not be like anyone elses...I doubt Lil Wayne has to use a potato as a silencer (suppressor)...If he changed his mouth, cars, 4wheeler, and everthing else to what is supposed to be the hottest thing out, what makes you think he wouldn't purchase the best firearms money can buy to protect it  ....With like a 4 million dollar mouth, it is literally scintillating when he talks;)...

PS- I left out the facts that he is usually seen wearing jewelry that cost about the same amount as his mouth is worth in the form of a bangle, bracelet, and "Piece and Chain",(that's medallion and necklace for the southern slang inhibited.. lol...)

Fo-Fahvs, Choppas, K's? Not one mention of the Tray-Ate. That settles it, revolvers are obsolete.

:neener:

TMC, for such a fan of the Cash Money millionaires, I'd thought you would be aware one of the raps mentions supressing a 9mm with a potato:rolleyes: , I never said Lil Wayne was not wealthy or did or did not own any class 3 weaponry or "choppers". To me though, if he does own legal firearms, especially class 3 stuff, as you cannot be a felon or have certain misdemeanor convictions to do so, that isn't exactly "gangsta"! And yes I watch MTV too and saw the ATV's with "20's".

After all, in some of the raps, he constantly raps about murdering and drug dealing.

Kurush, revolvers are mentioned in rap. "I got a 38 hidden up the sleeve"(maybe a derringer though) "I'll hit you with the 44mag and you'll be in a body bag" (not exact and could be a DE) Biggie Smalls mentions a "357 slug". Also,"with my revolver, problem solver."

It also needs to be said that Lil Wayne has Bang Bang tattooed on his chest to commemorate * I was playing with a deuce-deuce and didn't know a gun still has a bullet in it if you take the clip out* (as close to a direct quote as I recall).
I wouldn't trust rappers who can obviously afford whatever firearms they'd like to be much of authorities on them or perhaps they can buy the models that I can't,such as the Glocks with hammers that can be cocked back:confused:

outofbattery,

ROFLMAO, you are too right about the,"Mythical", Glock with exposed hammer, that I keep hearing about:evil:, and sooooo my pet peeve:) .

Moonclip, the potato on the end of the barrel, however effective, is not what he is using now a days, or atleast not as espoused by his last album...

Moonclip, I am also sure that every felon that ever commited a crime has been caught, and convicted, thus being barred from future firearms ownership  ...Your faith in,"The System('s)" ability to catch and punish criminals, is mind blowing, while kinda humorous...

I bet you are living near a,"Felon" or ,"Prohibited Person", and don't know it, especially with how easy it is to become a prohibited person(misdameanor domestic violence conviction ) now days...:uhoh:

Kurush, revolvers are mentioned in rap. "I got a 38 hidden up the sleeve"(maybe a derringer though) "I'll hit you with the 44mag and you'll be in a body bag" (not exact and could be a DE) Biggie Smalls mentions a "357 slug". Also,"with my revolver, problem solver."
I was joking, I hope you didn't actually go out and research that :)

TMC, yes I'm well aware the criminal justice system is not perfect but for street cred, many rappers seem to be proud of the fact they have served time or been charged with serious crimes. Think of some of the top rappers like Tupac and 50 cent and Snoop Dogg. Yes I agree, most excons I have met that want a firearm have no trouble obtaining one.

BTW, as you seem to really up on what Lil Wayne is doing, what is he majoring in in college, criminal justice?:)

Kurush, no I didn't research that but it is just stuff I have the fortune(or misfortune)of remembering. Also a point of interest for you, there is a crip set in my area called 357, I'm sure it was named that before the 357sig cartridge was invented!

All this talk of choppers is going to have to make me break out one of my SKS's soon! I have actually shot it at junk car parts and it did surprise me even with lead core ammo and not being a full power rifle cartridge like 8x57 how much it would dent or penetrate a truck rim and tire. As for an SKS not being "gangsta" I don't know, I suppose with a higher capcity mag and with the bayonet and all it looks pretty good or like a poorer mans AK.

My S.W.A.G. about Lil Waynes major eh?

Well let's see, a multil millionaire, that is just now turning 22-23 I believe...
We should all know this one.

Double Major- Getting to ,"home base", a heck of a lot, and working on his ,"pitch", and he ain't on the baseball team, if you get my drift. Atleast that's what my major would be as a 23 year old millionaire surrounded by the bounty of beauties that H-Town has to offer:evil: :) ...

PS- Most of the so-named, or self-named,"Gangster Rappers", came up in what they call the,"Dope Game". Depending on what drug they sold, or produced, they might have had multiple run-ins with the local constabulary, and only received a slap on the wrist, while literally( and figuratively) commiting murder on the streets in the,"Dope Game". Most are low level street punks selling crack to crackheads and killing their own community, until they get into the ,"Rap Game", and the "image is everthing", attitude takes hold, creating this,"invincibility/superman complex", that is destined to piss somebody off that is just a little bit badder than they are...

Unless you are Ice Cube in which case your parents are UCLA professors...

which might explain Cube's choice of a tricked out Wilson 1911 in "Boys In The Hood."

I didn't know that, thanx...

Boys in the hood, is one of my favorite,"hood", films...Menace to Society, would have to be up there as well. Damn that,"O Dog", character played by Lorenz Tate(sp?), was one honry SOB!!!

Even the Garand has been mentioned in rap! Fifty talks about them in "You Not Like Me"

"You see me in the hood, I got at least two guns
I carry the glock, Tony carry my M1s"

I for one would pay money for video of a gang shootout with an M1.

"Take that you east side crips! BAM BAM BAM! we'll show you! BAM BAM BAM! This corner belongs to the Rollin 50's! BAM BAM ping!"

scout 26, thanks for your very important and informative contribution to this thread:rolleyes: . Actually I think country and western music is crap generally but I keep my opinion on that to myself usually. It takes all kinds to make the world go round I suppose.

Dr. Rob, I thought Ice Cubes pistol in Boyz in the Hood was a S&W auto of some sort, I'll have to watch more closely next time. Though I remember seeing on an CD cover of his years ago a pic of him handing someone a 1911 pattern pistol of some sort.
