Does anyone know what Chuck Taylor is doing today? Last I heard of him he was booted from the SOF convention largely because of the antics of the woman he was with.

Chuck Taylor first gained notoriety as a very successful sniper in Vietnam, then was able to parley that into a number of varied money making opportunities, mostly with Bob Brown the publisher of the old Soldier of Fortune magazine crowd. If I remember correctly Mr. Taylor was also involved with Mr. Jeff Cooper at Cooper’s Gun site ranch, and worked in L/E along the line. Mr. Taylor also hosted a number of “combat” style pistol matches in the late 70’ and perhaps into the early 80’s. He also published articles for several different gun magazines at the time.
I met the man briefly on several occasions, at some of his pistol matches. The man could shoot no doubt about that, but he was willing to make sure everyone around know he was to be considered the Alfa male.

Mr. Taylor did have some “gray” association with Mr. Mitch Warble, and I know very little about that part of his business.

was he the guy that made the shoes
Two completely different people named Chuck Taylor which is why people with common names should use their SSN on the 4473
Here is the one you refer to

Here is the one the Original Post refers to

Lastly here is the list of people the name could refer to who are of some notoriety

Plus all the people who are not famous with the same name it could get confusing.

Don't know what he's doing lately, but I took an LE rifle class from him several years ago & enjoyed it.
Knows his stuff.
Is he still running the ASAA?

Are you confusing him with Chuck Traynor who dangled Marilyn Chambers out of a Huey at the SOF convention in 1982.

Chuck was the head instructor of Gunsite at one time and was the heir apparent when Cooper called him "The Best Tactical Gunfighter Alive"...shortly before the USPSA shooters demonstrated that the Weaver grip/stance wasn't optimal for placing fast and accurate fire on a target

Taylor left shortly after to start the ASAA, who's most famous, and successful, student is Dr. Ignatius Piazza...who started Front Sight

He was my first SMG instructor. I used his techniques when I trained others.

Churk Taylor was firearms instructor for Yavapai County (Arizona) S.O. when I was deputy there back in the 1970's. He was also working with Col. Cooper at Gunsite Arizona at that time. I have heard he lives in central Arizona now . . . unverified and no further info.

2 years ago a friend and I attended his Handgun course in AZ at the Ben Avery facility.
We both enjoyed the course and walked away feeling better about our skill levels.
If I had sufficient time off to do so - I would attend additional courses he offers.
I still receive updates for courses being offered it is tempting and pricing is reasonable

I was once a guest in Taylor's house and got a look-see at his arms room. He has a very impressive collection of full-auto weapons.

Since guns carry Chuck Norris for protection, maybe Chuck Taylor owns one of them. :D

I took a two-day precision rifle course run by Chuck Taylor about three years ago. His "girlfriend" attended the course too. The course cost $400 and we were supposed to get a certificate of completion but nothing was ever sent out to any of the attendees. I needed a certificate to apply for a Florida concealed carry permit but emails and phone calls were not returned so I ended up taking another course that cost $100.

On a personal level I liked Chuck and learned some interesting drills during the course, but ultimately I was disappointed when he didn't follow through with his promise.

9mmepiphany,
I'll bet that's exactly whom I'm speaking about. Sorry Taylor if I got you confused with the other guy. Thanks 9mm.
