So I decided to detail my Glock 19 slide for the first time yesterday (~3600 rounds).

It came apart easy as pie; sure enough there was some junk in there, especially around the extractor. I think I got it all out, except for what may be in the firing pin channel. I ran some wet Q-tips, but I couldn't tell how far in they were getting. I then ran a pipe cleaner, and I could see the wire poke through the FP hole in the breach face. However, I think some of the pipe cleaner strands came off. I could see them in there, but couldn't get to them at that time. I ran dry Qtips since I read the FP channel is supposed to be dry.

I reassembled, and then the first few dry fires did not sound quite normal. I could see the firing pin pushing some of the fluff from the pipe cleaner out through the hole in the breach face. I brushed that off, and a few more trigger pulls and it was sounding pretty much normal again.

I shot the pistol in a match this morning, and didn't have any failures in the 96 rounds expended (I figured some light strikes could result). However I'm pretty sure there is still some crap/pipecleaner fuzz in there. How do you clean the FP channel? Thanks.

I usually just use a q tip like you did. I will use hoppe's if it's really dirty then more dry swabs until it's mostly dry. Then I blow it out with compressed air. The pipe cleaner fuzz should blow out the 'garbage hole' (really) in the bottom of the channel.

That's one of the great things about Glocks....they are extremely easy to detail strip.

I also use Q-tips and pipe-cleaners.
And a bright flashlight to inspect the channel.

Break Cleaner (non chlorinated) will blast junk out and remove all carbon residue from the steel and plastic parts of your Glock.

Pipe cleaners do a nice job of cleaning out that firing pin channel.:) Also any other small holes a Q tip cant fit.

Beware of brake cleaner & it's cousin gun scrubber. It can melt plastic parts and there is a plastic liner in the firing pin channel.

I have hosed out all parts of my Glocks with non-chlorinated brake cleaner for years with no ill effects.

The blast of brake cleaner fluid seems to dislodge more gunk than high pressure air.

I blow the brake cleaner out of the nooks and crannies of the frame and slide and it's ready to be re-assembled and lubed.
