Does everyone clean their primer pockets on every round they reload for? If so, this must screw up the whole progressive reloading process. And if not, does anyone have any resulting issues from not? I only reload on a single stage and clean every pocket for every round that I reload for, handgun and rifle. It is a pain in the ass but do it to ease my OCD. I just can't see where those who reload on a progressive or even a turret end up cleaning any pockets. The reason I ask is because I was thinking of getting a Turret or maybe a progressive but can't see where this would benifit me if I have to take each round out and clean the primer pocket.

I load single stage. I don't clean the pockets for plinking ammo. I do clean them on hunting ammo and target ammo. I don't know how big of a differance it makes though. One of these times I'll have to test some match reloads for accuricy to see if it really makes a differance.

Cleaning and uniforming is fine but not required and very time consuming. But......you can deprime and clean the pockets before you run them through a progressive if required by your OCD.

I never clean pistol primer pockets (lazy), but I do for rifle. For match 6PPC ammo, I use a carbide primer pocket uniformer every time.

I always clean my primer pockets; it takes so little time to do so I really can't see why the need to cut the corner. I chuck my primmer pocket brush in to my drill press and can clean a 100 rounds in about 10 minutes or less. By the way I do reload on progressive press and it doesn't impact my speed because my brass is always pre-prepped before I start reloading. I always have thousands of rounds of prepped brass on hand so when I get the urge to reload, and have the primers or bullets on hand, I can sit down and load a a thousand or two at a sitting. I always prep my brass after a day of shooting right after I clean my guns.

I have a Lee Classic Turret and I clean the primer pockets every time. I tumble the brass first, then use Lee's universal decapping die on it. You can take the auto indexing rod out and use the LCT as a single stage press as well. I have an extra hole in my 30-30 die turret in which I keep the universal decapping die. I just slap that turret in when I need to decap and remove the auto indexing rod. Then I use Lee's pocket cleaning tool on the brass. Then it's ready to load. The decapper in the sizing die doesn't get used in my method.
