The service grade Garand arrived on Thursday along with the Greek surplus ammo. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. This 'luck of the draw' model has a new walnut stock. I believe the barrel is new or darned close with a muzzle reading of zero, the throat reading of 2 and sharp and bright rifling. The receiver is from around 1955.
Got to the range on Friday. Thanks to all the good advice here on an earlier thread I had the rifle placed correctly on the bench rest. Shooting at 50 yards with the rear sight elevation at 2 my best eight shot group was under an inch and a half; pretty good for me shooting a new rifle. I didn't have longer distances available but hopefully next week. I was surprised at how mild the recoil was.
I'm thrilled with the rifle's condition and it's potential.
