Gents.. what's the deal on availability from CMP for carbines? I got an email the other day saying that they were sold out of one variety from orders on one day in May - and that another drawing would be in September. :banghead:

Is that for special selections only, or is that the extent of the program? I thought maybe they had a pile of these that you could just order if you weren't picky about brand name.... I have my paperwork done, ordered a Garand a couple years ago, no problem, but I'm confused by the way they have their carbine program written up. I'm looking to buy a 'shooter' in Service grade, and don't care about brand name. Any info to share?

Also, I noticed CMP doesn't sell mags... anybody have a good source of either really good GI or very reliable after market mags? Thanks....

Thanks for your time.

The CMP carbines were recently brought back in from Italy. They apparently have some from all manufacturers, with Inland being the most common.

After the CMP inspected and graded them, they began selling the Inlands first. They quickly sold out, despite many people on the internet claiming the $500 price tag was way too high. I guess these people didnt know what they were talking about since the CMP sold out of Inlands very quickly.

They are now in the process of getting ready to sell carbines from other manufacturers. I believe Underwood will be the next up for sale, and there will be fewer of them than the Inlands. They will also be more expensive. I believe they are set to go on sale in September. There are no M1 Carbines currently for sale. You will have to wait til they start with the Underwoods.

Yep, Underwoods are next. They're saying that they have around 3000 of them ("less than 3200") and they're going to be priced at $565 each when they go on sale.

Hmm..

Last time I looked, it said the rest of their rifles were available Sept 3. For those of you who get the emails, any info on teh Saginaw Steering gears?

Keep watching the CMP page. It's worth spending an extra $17 to make sure your order gets there first.
