Someone who works in the same department I do was missing since Nov 25 and the police found her charred body a few days ago. She died from blunt trauma to the head that the authorities said was "a product of rage", and her body was taken to a remote location and burned. All the evidence points to her husband and the DA has charged him with her murder.

She was planning to divorce her husband, and I read that she was going to file a restraining order against him. Although the exact details of the crime aren't yet known, it's too bad she didn't have at least a ".38 special" restraining order ( ;) ), maybe she'd still be alive...

Although I didn't work directly with her, she was always friendly to everyone. The entire office is in shock and disgusted with the apparent guilt of her husband. She left behind three boys, ages 11, 9, and 5.

Unfortuneately, life in any Metropolis will have stories like this :banghead: At least it sounds like they have a suspect in custody & you live in a state that sees execution as a viable form of punishment.

Very sad. I wish we didn't her these horrible stories more and more often. Hopefully, someone contemplating this type of crime will change their mind.

& you live in a state that sees execution as a viable form of punishment.

That's what I was thinking but the newspapers say that the charges don't carry the death penalty, the max he can get is 99 years in prison. From the portion of the evidence that's been made public, it definitely sounds like pre-meditated murder. From what I understand, I thought that definitely qualified for the death penalty...

IIRC, the death penalty can only be given in "capitol" murder cases. I'm not sure what qualifies, but I think you have to do something above and beyond plain ol' homicide.

:cuss: :fire:  :(

So Dad bumps off Mom leaving three boys. I wish people would figure out if they're going to get along before breeding....

Triad,

You ARE correct... This guy will see life in prison at the most... Maybe we need to re-evaluate our death penalty provisions???

It amazes me that these idiots think they can get away with this ...Just like the case in Modesto CA, the husband is looking very bad at this point. Poor kids. There lives have changed from this point on. Let him rot in prison forever...

In this situation, if the husband / murderer is to get life in prison, he should be handed a large hammer, and spend 12 hours a day in a hot dirty rock quary bustin rocks, 24 / 7 / 365.
No TV, no library, no air conditioning, no comforts at all.

Just my 2 bits worth.

If we as a society deem it necessary to put people away for 'life' instead of execution where execution is entirely reasonable, then we ought to have mercy on survivors and victim's relatives by exempting them from taxation while the perp is locked up.

I just do not see the justice of putting someone away and then tax the victim or the victim's survivors to support the perp. Smells like slavery to me.

With divorces being granted so easily today, there's no need to resort to violence to "separate" oneself from a spouse. I'm with J Miller on this. 24/7/365 busting rocks.

This kind of thing makes me furious. Since I oppose the death penalty, I think what we need is something like the Devil's Island system for such cases. Find a miserable environment, miles from anything, for a full-isolation hard labor camp, and fill it with all the violent, life-without-parole scum. Require them to break X amount of rocks, or clear X amount of swamp, or whatever, for their daily food. No TV, A/C, video games, etc.

I used to work with a woman of questionable ethics. They found her cut up and stuffed in the trunk of her car. No matter what she might have done, she didn't deserve that. :(

Very sad. Especially for the three kids. Sometimes I wish public stonings were still legal.

There was a woman at my workplace right before I started working there that was murdered by her boyfriend. He was a state trooper. Then he shot himself.

It costs more to keep a murderer in prison for a year than it would to send a deserving young person to virtually any college in the nation.

I'm no advocate of free education at government expense, but it seems to me we ought to reconsider our priorities.

Death penalty works

A friend told me his Grandfather took his dad (who was like 10 or 11 at the time) and brothers to town to watch them hang a horse thief (last man hung here) . His father said the memory of that helped him make the right choices in life on several occasions when he might have been tempted otherwise.

I wish people would figure out if they're going to get along before breeding....

They were getting along, that's how they got to the breeding part. Making sure their breeding partner is mature and rational would solve many of these problems.

Restraining orders usually work better, when there's a hollow point enforcing it..

Sorry to hear... Email this to the Sara Brady's and get their comments...

What sad news. Restraining orders only have a function as documentation of the problem, should it continue or escalate. They do nothing to deter someone bent on harming someone else. If there's an immediate threat of harm, a protection order is quicker to obtain and carries a better response from the police. You can't rely on either, though.

In front of their 2 year old daughter.

This is why God made hell.

My mom taught 1st grade at a small christian school about 10 years ago.

A lady tried to hide from her husband - hid at friends house with boys. Husband located her. Burst in with shotgun - horrors in front of little boys.

Believe in hell.
