8 months ago I didn't own any guns, but the bug bit me hard. I took some pictures today and just wanted to share.

Ooooops, can't leave out the "old man"

From top to bottom:

Marlin 795 .22lr
Remington 870 Express 7 shot synthetic 12 gauge with XS big dot bead
Springfield Armory M1A Scout 7.62x51mm
Center Left: Smith & Wesson M&P 340 .357 magnum
Center Right: Smith & Wesson M&P .40 full size
Right: Beretta A391 Xtrema2 12 gauge
Left: Remigton 870 wingmaster 12 gauge (handed down from my dad)

My grandfather once told me if you can remember how many guns you have you don't have enough.

Nice collection. I like the M&P 340 great pocket carry

Wait until you get into reloading. I just started and already I'm looking at shelving units :D Need more space.

Another aspect of the firearms hobby I've found interesting is trading. Not usre about everyone else, but I love a good haggle now and again. Get some good deals once in a while too. I just traded my Taurus ultra-lite for a really nice S&W M&P 4". Of course then I had to buy some dies...

Welcome to the fray.

I know the feeling. The 4 Mosins were acquired within a 2 week time period.

From top:
Walther P99 QA Military Edition 9mm
Bushmaster M4
Savage Model 111 .243
1960's Glenfield Model 20 .22LR
1970's Amadeo Rossi side-by-side, crack barrel 12 gauge
1943 Mosin Nagant 91/30, Tula Ex-Sniper, force matched
1943 Mosin Nagant 91/30, Tula, all matching
1941 Mosin Nagant 91/30 with laminate stock, Izhevsk, force matched
1940 Mosin Nagant M38, Izhevsk, all matching

I can't remember how many guns I have....and I still don't think I have enough! :p

I think the quote is better rephrased as: "You can never have enough guns." lol

Nice collection started though!

You are off to a nice start, good quality fire arms never go down in value. In the event of bad/hard times you can recoup most your investment. Been their, done that.

Next step is a C&R and a mil surp habit. Some of my old $50 Enfields are now at $250-600.
I lost count after eighty so I count to the nearest ten.

damn virus... started collecting guns 4 years ago.. Now I have 30+ of them..

got my first AR 2 years ago.. about to get my 6th... not talking about my AK, Garand, mossberg, glocks, etc etc..

I love your M1A ! magnificent gun !

I have the virus. It may go dormant for a while, but it re-activates itself from time to time. If you like to shoot guns, have the funds, and you feel your gun accumulation is lacking, you will purchase more firearms.

Good start on your firearm accumulation. Buy what you like, take care of them, and try not to sell off guns when you get into a financial slump. Only get rid of firearms that you decide you have no use for and envision no likely future use. Otherwise, keep them. How many things do you buy that you can actually sell off and not loose money? Maybe, that is better phrased "not loose much" money. Good luck and enjoy.

you are right. guns are a very good investment.. I try never to sell them, except to buy a better one, but actually I NEVER lost money selling a gun !

You don't know how refreshing it is to read that rational advice. :)

The constant mantra on most gun boards I frequent is a very dogmatic "Never sell a gun, ever, for any reason!"

I have regretted every gun ever sold. I will NEVER sell another. Considering this, guns are a financial loss to me. I only spend what I won't need elsewhere. The biggest problem I have is keeping ammo on hand. Even if I only had 1 gun, I could still never have enough ammo. With each new purchase come another ammo purchase.......If a gun is going to cost me $500, I just go ahead and expect to spend $1000 or more.....

ETA: in 18 months of actively collecting, I have accumulated 20 guns, a safe, countless accessories and currently building upon my ammo collection. I have taken the summer off though, will resume collecting again soon. At this rate I should catch up with Hardshell about 15 years after he is done. LOL He who dies with the most guns wins! As long as he is out of bullets that is.

It only gets "worse"

For kicks and giggles, try a lever action on your next purchase. Caliber isn't that important, but the Marlin 336 in 30-30 is one fine and relatively inexpensive gun.:neener:

Indeed, I took my first deer with a marlin 30-30. My old man still keeps that one though. I have been looking at getting one for myself too.

Tell me about it... wait until you've been at it for 20+ years.

I think you've stepped outside the realm of collections. You sir, have an arsenal. :D

Tell me about the addiction part. I now have 74 guns and still want more. And God help you if you get started on 1911's. Then you are really in trouble. You can never have enough of those.:D
