My guess is that the true stat shows that, the number of women who die from a gunshot wound in this country, is 83 times the number of recorded cases where a woman killed her attacker with a legally carried handgun. I can buy that, but the statistic itself couldn't be more irrelevant in any possible way.

What it is not saying is that, out of every 84 women who attempt to use a handgun in self defense, 83 are murdered by the attacker with the women's own handgun.

A typically inappropriate statistic. It would be a safe bet that most women who use a gun to defend themselves don't actually kill anyone with it. As a defensive shooter, you don't need to kill, or even shoot, to win.

The University of Tennessee has a few call boxes around campus that go to the campus police. I cannot comment on how effective they really are.

Regardless of claimed numbers, who is more likely to be disarmed by restrictions on legal sale and ownership of guns: a woman who might want a gun for self-defense, or the kind of person who kills women? Who is least likely to be disarmed by D.C.-Chicago-NYC style "reasonable regulation"?

Every college campus I remember being on has had police call boxes.

The point of your post is of course correct. These boxes are obviously no substitute to an armed would-be victim. But they are on college campuses.

Every time some liberal tells me that guns are only good for killing people I explain to them to them that there are times when certain people desperately NEED to be killed. They usually shut up at that po in Cnt. I lived in Colorado back in the 70s and it was not too bad. But it's too close to California and they'll let anybody move in.

To compare apples to oranges (which is what they are trying to do), you need to look at percentages, not absolute numbers. What percentage of women who were attacked and had guns were successful in fending off the attack? What percentage of women who own guns are killed with their own guns? Those two percentages would paint a more accurate picture.
