I was looking into getting a New Colt Gold Cup Trophy, in stainless, and was told this firearm is on backorder and I could expect a decent wait of several months :(. Is anyone else having this issue? I was also curious if the $1,100 before tax price is fair. This will be my first 1911 so please excuse the newbie questions.

If anyone has any good/bad experiences with the specific model I mentioned, I would love to hear about it. Please do not tell me about how great other 1911 manufacturers are, I am only interested in this specific Colt.

I attached the link below to the exact model below. Thanks for any help!

From my understanding is that Colt caters much more to the Military, and/or LE than the civilian market. I was told that Colt will make a run, or batch of one model gun for a while, quit make that model, and start making another model gun for a little while, and then do a run of making another model, and it just runs in a cycle, and it might take awhile B/F they get back to the first model they made. For example they may make a run on Delta Elites for a while, and then stop and make a run of XSE Governments, and then stop and make a run of the Series 70, and so on and so forth.

IDK how true that is, but that's what I've been told, and it seems to make sense as you could go looking a certain model Colt today, and not be able to find one, but see a few of a certain other model Colt, but then 8 months later you'll be able to find the model you were originally wanting, but you noone no long has the model that was on the market 8 months early when you started looking.

Thanks for the info, I hope they have another run sometime in the near future!

It looks like gunbroker.com has several of them for sale/auction...might want to check there. I just did my first online purchase and it was pretty pain free as long as you have a local dealer that will transfer it for you without a huge transfer fee (my dealer charged me $20).
