Has anyone seen the new Colt XSE Rail Gun? It's a stainless government model with a built in rail on the dustcover. It is listed on the Colt website along with all the other XSE models. The Rail Gun is listed as model O1070RG.

First they brought back the Combat Elite, then the Delta Elite 10mm. Now a genuine Colt with an integral light rail. It's about time Colt starts getting some new models on the market. Way to go Colt!!! Now I just have to find one.

Too little too late.

And I am pretty sure anyone who would actually buy a Colt (like me) would not want that travesty of a light rail on it.

Dont like em on any other 1911s either.

When I saw rail gun I thought of a magnetic accelerator. I personally don't care for rails on a 1911.

I like Colts, own several, and certainly see the utility of being able to see what you are shooting at in the dark. Maybe your Colts are just range toys?

Too many protein shakes and zombie guides there, lone gunman? :D

What's wrong with a good range toy?

I love Colts!
I owned a Springfield MC Operator and found the rail on it useful for a HD piece. It was nothing I wold carry for SD.
I sold the MC to buy a 70 series repo and never looked back at it

Now that Colt has one I just may pick one up for the bedside!!

And oh yeah

A COLT IS ALWAYS THE RIGHT ANSWER!!

If they put a rail on it so you can use it in low light conditions, why wouldn't they put night sights on it so you can use them in low-light conditions?

Step 1: Know what you're shooting at.

Step 2: Be able to actually hit it.

Every time I see this topic, this is what I think of.

That said, that IS one of the least-offensive railed 1911's I've seen.

I've never been a big fan of the rails either, but for a home defense gun it would have it's benefits.

Plus, it's just good to see Colt coming out with new models.

I still don't see a Colt Rail Gun, just a 1911 with a light rail. I demand more rail-gun!

+1 on that. Colt still makes 1911's? Who cares. They lost my business when they discontinued... uh... EVERYTHING GOOD. The Python, the Dick Special, the un-neutered AR-15. Colt sold out and thought their government contracts would carry the day. Colt can go to hell! Maybe if somebody who cared about the 2nd Ammendment owned them.

Yes Badger because you can't find any Colts anymore. Forget the 6940 in my Safe, or the dozens of 6920, 6940, and 6721s at my local shop. Forget the Defender, their entire series of handguns in fact. Colt sells what sells best. If it wasn't worth it to make a gun they were not going to continue to make it.
No gun company is in this for the fun of it. They are in it to make a Profit.

I am trying to figure out what you think is neutered about their ARs.

Personally I like having a rail on my handguns. I don't buy things to take out to the range once every 6 months. I buy them because some day I may need them to protect myself or my lived ones. A rail allows me to have a light and still keep one hand free.

I swear I don't understand the FUDD hatred of any advancement in firearms. If some people had their way we would still be using Single shot Rifles and Break top revolvers.

If you mount a light to the rail, you do not need night sights.
I don't think the point is about whether light rails on handguns make sense, it's about whether or not they make sense on a 1911. For me, a light rail works against my two favorite things about a 1911, looks and concealibility. The only place a light rail really makes sense to me is on an HD gun, which I would never use a 1911 for.

Good. I like variety.

I own one 1911 (a 1927 Sistema, actually) that does not have a light rail, and I have no plans of adding one. However, if I were to get another 1911 that was a "working" gun, as opposed to a range toy or a safe queen, it would probably have a rail.

I can and have used a flashlight in conjunction with a handgun. It's doable. But it's not preferable, by any stretch of the imagination. Reloads are slower and malfunction drills are a real PITA, and it's almost impossible to do either and maintain illumination (if you wish to do so) with a handheld light.

And, this is not to disparage range toys or safe queens. Most of my guns are one or the other. If I was looking for a "pretty" 1911, it would be a Colt in Royal Blue from their custom shop, and it would most assuredly not have a rail. I like the option, though.
