In 1992, I bought this stainless S80 Enhanced Commander. From the get go, it was a PITA. Under warranty, Bain & Davis made it right, but the pistol just never grabbed me and in 1993 when I bought a Springfield Milspec, the Commander got regulated to only occasional use.

Finally, I decided to do something about it. I sent the pistol off to Tripp Research with a list of things I wanted changed. They did all the gunsmith work as well as the refinish. I am very pleased with the results. :)

Looks good. My Commander will head down to Tripp as soon as I get done hacking it up to make it the way I want it. Hopefully in the next couple months.....

Thanks. I'm really happy with the slide top. The flat top as it left Colt always looks wrong. It need a little dress up.

This is the third pistol Tripp has either refinished and/or worked on for me. They are a good bunch.

GnR,

It looks good. I like the trigger - what kind is it?

Also - are those Heinie sights still in production? I always liked them, but thought he stopped making them. What are they called?

Thanks.

The trigger is a Greider (spelling?). Supposedly they are using the old Videki machines, but that's just what I heard.

The sights are the old Heine Straight 8's. I think they only sell the Slant 8's now.

GnR,

Thanks. I like those Heinie Straight-8s better than the newer ones. I don't know why they don't still offer them also.

What finish of hard chroming did U use? Brushed or matte? Looks like it's all the same, right? Not a combination of the two?

It's matte hard chrome.

Lots of shooting. I don't own any safe queens.

Over 2k rounds since it's return. Extremely accurate. Trigger at 4lbs from my cheap fish scale.

Wonderful pistol.
