I wish I'd bought a Norinco back when they were under 300.00 new. I thought at the time they were just cheap Chinese junk.
SAME! was at walmart and they had Norinco SKS for $100-ish. Counter guy goes, you don’t want that Chinese Junk! he was so wrong

it was about Colt SAA and that’s black powder… but morfed into 1911’s natural progressive
The Colt SAA is a cartridge gun and you're talking about mid-late 20th century versions. The S&W N-frame is a relic of the blackpowder era, should we talk about model 29's here too???

didn’t mean to ruffle any feathers! Peace in the Middle East Man!

Conversations take unexpected turns as the interests of the participants dictate.
As long as the original post's subject fits the genre, I think that variations on the theme are interesting and rewarding excursions into the vast knowledge of our members that might never be seen!
I'm all in!!!
(Especially since I'm old and my mind wanders a lot!)

It's a pleasure to be on a forum that doesn't limit getting off topic. I belong to one where the owner is so uptight if you even look like you're going to go off topic he gives you a warning. He's got other crazy rules too I would leave except it's got good people there.

I personally love the wealth of knowledge from the Collectors and Historians here! It’s brain food for sure

Glad some people are still interested in commemorative fire arms, guess they need to be sold to someone.......... I think the last commemorative that was advertised to me I offered less than a quarter of the asking price to be given to me to take it off their hands........

wow! that’s a deal. I asked for $100 off the $1500 gun. I’m not good at getting deals. you can convince me into buying a live chicken and I would

No one's ever taken me up on it in fact some became rather indignant........

I refuse to buy commemoratives, can you imagine showing up at a reenactment or living history with a commemorative?

Well… my prediction, commemorative will be the new rage with the Gamer generation!!!

Moose Lodge 100th Commemorative Colt SAA !!!! here I come!!!

It's a good price, I would buy and shoot the crap out it.

So many of those commemorative models were just marketing.

Winchester 94s were commemorating something, once a week, back in the 70s.

Some of gold washed / plated monstrosities were gaudy, but good shooters.

my plan is making them Fancy Shooters

Well, I do have a repro Colt M1861 Special musket that's a "Signature Series" with Sam Colt's signature on the trigger guard. I suppose that's a commemorative, and it wouldn't be out of place at a reenactment.
I'm referring to the ones that have medallions, inletted and/or other modern writing/printing that would difficult and/or expensive to get rid of. What you have is fine and if it wasn't trigger guards are not that expensive to replace.

Same for all the trillions of commemorative Wincesters. Of which I have two. I like them because they're often a way to get a higher finished or unique configuration at reasonable prices. Like this Legendary Frontiersman .38-55.
I agree they make nice shooters. I have that one and the Legendary Lawmen I just wanted a nice 94 thuddy thuddy and it's a purdy one.
The price for the ammo nowadays is silly but I had to have a box. 20200831_150110.jpg

Dare I say strip the finish off and throw them down the driveway to achieve the well worn antique look. Some of the blackpowder shops do this for a small fee before shipping your new antique pistol.

I got an old box of .30-30 Lawman, somewhere around here. Another box of some .30-30, I think John Wayne.

Now I gotta go look.
