I've noticed among posts that the Defender seems to be more popular than the New Agent. Is this because of the gutter sights? If there are other differences, what are they? I'm in the mood to pick either one for CC and probably sell my Officer's, mostly because of the weight differential since many times going to my local "Shop& Rob" I pocket or jacket carry.

I can only speak for myself, but if I were to choose between the two, the Defender's sights would make the difference for me. On anything but a tiny pocket pistol for "deep cover" or a BUG - which this pistol is not - I insist on highly visible sights. The arguments that you won't use the sights anyway, or that they snag, just don't wash with me.

I carry my Defender more . I guess its the sight on Agent . I really like my Agent, I just shoot better with the Defender. Both have been totally reliable. I hardly ever carry my Officer any more . If going to carry that weight. I just use my Commander instead.

I *loved* the Gutter Sights.

No, I do mean it. while it took a little bit to become as proficient with them as with standard sights, after a while they began feeling more intuitive.

The New Agent (in 9mm) was actually the only 1911 I ever liked. Amazing concept, but nothing for people who are bound by tradition.

I'll stick with my 23 oz Heine worked over Officer's Model LW. I can make 15 yard repeatable head shots on hostage targets. That is real life enough scenario for me.
