Here's a question for all you knowledgeable Colt guys. What would be a fair price for the following:

A pair of stainless 5 1/2" Colt "Frontier Scout" single action revolvers in very good to excellent condition in a Colt wooden presentation box with red silk interior. One revolver is chambered in 22 LR and the other in 22 Mag. I really don't know any more about them, such as generation or such. Can anyone give me a market price estimation on these and tell me whether they are sought after or not as collector's items?

Thanks.

I don't remember the Frontier Scouts being made in stainless but I am old and forget a lot of stuff. Could they be nickel plated?

In 98% condition, the pair should retail at around $900, plus maybe 10% for the box. In 100% condition, add $400 for the pair.

There is some collector interest, but not as much as in the centerfire calibers. The Scout was intended to be Colt's answer to Ruger's Single Six, but was cheaply made with the frame made of a zinc alloy; it gave a lot of problems. I might note that the Single Six is still around, the Frontier Scout is long gone.
