Well as you all know i am a huge xd fan and i love the two that I already have, but i have been wanting to get me a 9mm service model for sometime for cheaper shooting and for attending, handgun courses, in the future.
so i have come across two deals on xd's and i can only afford to buy one with my tax return since i am having another ar upper built.
#1) xd service model 9mm with meprolite night sights approx, 300rds down it, and all the accesories that came with it, two mags, for $400.

#2) brand new in the box xd srvice ported model 9mm, $475.

which route would you guys go? i think the ported models are neat but not a big big deal to me but might be something good to have i don't know though how practical it would be. i love the service models so either would be great.

#1 For sure - a much better deal WITH the NS and WITHOUT the porting...

Good luck!

I also like No. 1. I'm not a fan of porting, and the night sights & money savings are nice too.

I am not a fan of ported guns. However if you are thats cool.

Though like everyone else I would purchase the first gun on the list. Its a good deal. The 300 rounds is a drop in the bucket for a decent gun like the XD.

The $400 deal is very appealing considering the sights alone are worth $50. For a 9mm in a 4" Service model, the ported barrel is not needed as there is no real muzzle flip to worry about. It's mostly a show thing. Trust me, you won't miss it, but the night sights will be the thing you value.

Thanks for all the replies guys i am leaning toward the model with night sites.
i am aware of the problems tha the ported models have had, i know alot about xd's the good and the bad and i know that sa would make it right if something did happen, but i would rather not fool with the headache, if something did. i hear that sa is supposed to be fixxing the problems with them, but not yet.

yeah and muzzle flip ain't even an issue in my .40 service or sc so i know there wouldn't be a problem with the regular 9mm service model.

alright guys you have talked me into it, i am ready to move on the xd 9mm service, w/ ns thanks guys ya'll gave alot of great points and helped tremendisouly! thanks!
