Is that all the remaining opinions or all the remaining opinions that they will release this session?
 
Usually it simply confirms my theory that as a species, humans suck...Only as individuals can humans be worth a damn. In large groups they're capable of the most heinous, shocking and distasteful stuff imaginable, as they tend to sink to the depravity level of the worst individual in the group... :banghead:
 
a few positive comments by Scalia that should be indicative

1. No contradiction between reading the second clause as a personal guarantee and the first one as assuring the existence of militia, ... not necessarily a state-managed militia

2. the way militias were destroyed was not by passing a law against militias, but by taking away the people's weapons

3. Since we need a militia, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

4. Blackstone thought it was important. He thought the right of self-defense was inherent...the framers were devoted to Blackstone

5. Joseph Story, the first commentator on the Constitution and a member of this Court, thought it was a personal guarantee

6. I don't know that a lot of people have machine guns or armor-piercing bullets. I think that's quite unusual...But having a pistol is not unusual


7. Doesn't "well regulated" mean "well trained"? It doesn't mean -- it doesn't mean "massively regulated." It means "well trained."

8. if you have time, when you hear somebody crawling in your -- your bedroom window, you can run to your gun, unlock it, load it and then fire?

I'd hav to completely disagree.

Humans do horrible things to each other as individuals and as groups.

Most rapists, murderers, and child molesters are individuals.

But I understand the group "pack" mentality too.

The test case on whether the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a gun is among those remaining (District of Columbia v. Heller, 07-290). The others still pending are cases on the constitutionality of the so-called “Millionaire’s Amendment” on campaign finance (Davis v. FEC, 07-320), and on federal regulators’ power to undo wholesale energy sales contracts (Morgan Stanley Capital v. Public Utility District, 06-1457, and a companion case).
